At least 800 dead due to COVID-19 misinformation

SHKELZEN OSMANI

During the first three months of this year, at least 800 people have died worldwide due to misinformation about COVID-19.

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, in a published study, writes that about 5,800 people were admitted to hospitals as a result of false information on social media about the Corona virus, reports BBC.

Most of them died from drinking methanol or other alcohol-based cleaning products, believing these products were a cure for the virus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has previously said that fake news about COVID-19 is spreading as fast as the virus itself, as many conspiracy theories and rumors are circulating around it, resulting in a large number of deaths and other health problems.
