Through headlines in media articles, it has been claimed that a member of the "Arpagjikt" fan group from Prizren has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in Montenegro, after admitting to writing KLA graffiti on several houses.

The claim entitled "One of the Union fans who was detained in Montenegro is sentenced to 10 years in prison" was published on Thursday (October 23) in "indexonline.net”And“periscope.com".

Why is this claim being addressed?

Although the headlines claim 10 years in prison, right at the beginning of the news these media outlets have informed that it is a ten-day prison sentence.

Head of the news:

"A member of the "Arpagjikët" fan group has been sentenced to 10 days in prison and one year of deportation from Montenegro, after pleading guilty to KLA graffiti on several houses in the Montenegrin town of Igalo."

The article continues by quoting the medium "News" in Montenegro. Hibrid.info has verified the article published by this medium. It states that the punishment is 10 days in prison and a one-year ban on entry into Montenegro for a citizen of Kosovo.

Both media outlets have also published the articles on their websites. FacebookAnd a few minutes after the article was published, they improved the headlines.

The article with the same title, however, remained active on Facebook on the page "Drenica Press" with 92 thousand followers.

Analyze:

The headlines of some articles claimed that a Kosovo citizen was sentenced in Montenegro to 10 years in prison after admitting to writing KLA graffiti on several houses.

But despite the headlines, the media outlets that were highlighted in the content reported that it was a 10-day sentence, not a 10-year sentence. A few minutes after publication, they corrected the headlines and posts on Facebook.

Based on the working methodology, hibrid.info evaluates the contents presented in the titles of these articles as "Error".

Reasoning:

The "Error" rating is given to informational content in which, during the compilation or publication process, errors occur by publishing incorrect information (especially when dealing with information in figures) or by broadcasting poorly verified news, without the clear intention of misinforming the public.
