A claim is circulating on social media that Turkey's Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, congratulated the LVV candidate for prime minister, Albin Kurti, on his victory in the February 9 elections during a telephone conversation.

This claim was published by the Facebook page "Lajme Nga Bota", which accompanied it with an illustrative photo showing Kurti and Turkish minister Fidan.

Does the claim hold true?

The Facebook page named "Lajme Nga Bota", in a post made on February 10, claimed that "Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, through a telephone conversation, congratulated Prime Minister Albin Kurti on his victory."

During searches conducted on the official website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, in that of Prime Minister of Kosovo, but also on the internet, no information has been found that supports the above claim.

So, no information has been found confirming a telephone conversation where Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan congratulated the LVV candidate for prime minister, Albin Kurti, on his victory.

It is important to note that Kurti, in his capacity as Prime Minister, and Minister Fidan have had previous communications. On July 27, 2023, as Prime Minister, Kurti had a telephone conversation with Minister Fidan, congratulating the latter on the election results and his new assignment. (here)

Also on May 31, 2024, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Ankara. (here)

Also, on September 6, 2024, in his capacity as Prime Minister, Kurti welcomed Minister Fidan in Pristina, where they discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, including the economy, security and Euro-Atlantic integration. (here)

Analyze:

A claim has been spread on social media that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan congratulated LVV's candidate for prime minister Albin Kurti on his victory in the February 9 elections, through a telephone conversation.

However, apart from this unfounded claim, there is no information supporting the claim of a victory congratulatory message from the Turkish foreign minister to the LVV candidate for prime minister, Kurti.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info considers this claim to be "fake news".

Reasoning:

The “Fake News” rating is given to informational content that is entirely fabricated or that contains factually incorrect claims or information. Content that is rated as fake news can be defined as having been created and distributed with the intent to misinform the public, i.e., to present a claim that is completely false as fact.
