The findings show that the latest data published by this agency is for September, an announcement made through a press release published on November 14 (see here).
After individual calculation and via ChatGPT (ChatGPT is a generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI), it was found that the total number of births in Kosovo from January to September for the year 2025 is 20,940, as highlighted in the content covered by the media outlet in question.
However, hibrid.info noted that the comparison period between 2025 and 2024 is not the same, as the data for 2024 includes birth statistics for the month of October, data that is missing in the current year.
Counting births up to October, 22,418 births were registered for 2024 (1478 more than in 2025, see here).
But, after calculating the births in the period January-September 2024, it turns out that the total number is 20,051, which is lower than the same period in 2025 (889 less, see here).
This means that, since the same periods (January–September) of the two years were not compared, the claim that there are 1500 fewer babies in 2025 than last year is incorrect.
