Gashi did not say he would vote for the Serbian List over Vetevendosje

OUR VERDICT

FAKE NEWS

Gashi did not say he would vote for the Serbian List. The false statement has returned online, having been circulating since 2023.

A content is published with the caption "If I had the poplar pen in my hand, I would vote for the Serbian List rather than VV.", presented as a statement by Arben Gashi, a member of parliament from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).

This content was published on September 2, on a Facebook page called "Kurti 4" and from the account "Echo Hona".

What's wrong with this content?

After research conducted online, it was determined that there is no evidence that Gashi made such a statement, either through his official social media accounts or in any media statements.

Hibrid.info has checked Gashi's Facebook account and in his latest posts no statement or position was found that would confirm the claim presented in this photo (see here).

A search was also conducted on YouTube for video material related to Arben Gashi. However, no material was found that proves that Gashi has publicly stated what is alleged in the content published on Facebook (see here).

A Google search was also conducted, using keywords related to the claim. Even in the results of this search, no credible reporting or other source was found that would confirm that the LDK MP made such a statement (see here).

Hibrid.info has previously addressed the same claim. A content with this statement attributed to Arben Gashi was also published in 2023 and 2025. Even then, the claim was verified and no evidence was found that Gashi had made such a statement (see here and here).

Another fact that makes the claim untenable is the spelling errors in the caption on the image.

So, based on the verifications carried out, the photograph attributing this statement to Arben Gashi is not supported by reliable sources and presents as his a statement for which no evidence has been found that he made it.

The resurgence of this false claim circulating on social media comes at a time when the positions of six LDK MPs, including Arben Gashi, towards the agreement with the Vetëvendosje Movement for the election of Bekim Sejdiu as president have been at the center of political developments in the country.

On September 1, 2026, the chairman of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, announced that Arben Gashi, Avdullah Hoti, Hykmete Bajrami, Armend Zemaj, Kujtim Shala and Janina Ymeri will not support Sejdiu's candidacy, opposing the agreement reached with Vetëvendosje.

Analyze

LDK MP Arben Gashi is alleged to have declared that, if he had the “people’s pen” in his hand, he would vote for the Serbian List over the Vetëvendosje Movement. This statement was featured in a photo posted on Facebook, which has been re-circulated in recent days.

However, there is no evidence that Gashi made such a statement. Hibrid.info has verified the same claim in 2023 and 2025 and has not found any reliable sources confirming it.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses this content as "Fake News".

rationale
