Ilir Deda's statement is misinterpreted in the headline as confirmation of Kurti-LDK talks

An article titled "Dramatic developments/ Kurti in talks with LDK on the formation of the new Government".

content with this title it was published on Wednesday (October 22) by the portal "GazetaImazhi.com".

What's wrong with the title?

The information in the title does not accurately reflect the actual content of the article. While the title is “Dramatic developments/ Kurti in talks with LDK on the formation of the new Government", the content presents the opinion of columnist Ilir Deda, who has stated that he "believes that behind the scenes, talks are taking place between political parties to form a new government."

So, this personal opinion has been interpreted in a distorted way to draw more specific conclusions.

The same article was also published on this portal's Facebook page (see here). It uses a photograph showing the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV), Albin Kurti, and the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku.

Right from the beginning of the article it becomes clear that we are dealing with individual opinion, when it is stated that "Ilir Deda believes that behind the scenes, talks are taking place between political parties to form a new government."

The rest of the article is also built on statements by columnist Ilir Deda.

Deda's quoted statements in the article:

"We have been warned by Vjosa Osmani and Dimal Basha, or by the institutions they lead, that there are discussions. Discussions can happen with anything, and in principle there is no problem if there are talks between political parties, but it should not happen like in 2014, which was a very big political drama, and poisoned the political scene."

"I think it's best to come out to the public and show that perhaps this was the beginning of a period of easing the tensions and bad political language that we've seen for a while, and let's see the result this Sunday of what this means in reality."

Based on these statements, it is confirmed that Deda did not say that LVV is in talks with LDK about forming a new government.

Hibrid.info has also checked a video material taken from the show "Rubikon" broadcast on October 22 on Klan Kosova, where Ilir Deda was also invited as a panelist for the discussion (see here).

After verification, it was confirmed that he expressed his belief in discussions between political parties on the formation of the government, but did not specify between which parties they are taking place."Maybe it would be better if we didn't give too much space to the talks that are happening. I believe they are happening. I don't want to speculate about who is with whom." (see here).

Analyze:

The headline claims that Kurti is talking directly with the LDK and that dramatic developments are taking place regarding the formation of the Government.

However, the content of the article only shows the opinion of Ilir Deda, who stated that there may be behind-the-scenes talks between political parties, without any confirmation of concrete meetings of the actors mentioned in the title.

However, in the title it is not clear that we are dealing with the opinion of Ilir Deda and that his statement there is presented distorted.

Therefore, based on the working methodology, hibrid.info evaluates this content as "Clickbait" and "Manipulation of facts."

Reasoning:

“Clickbait” is considered to be informational content whose title is general and does not disclose the location of the event, context and relevance. Such texts and articles aim to attract the attention of the audience with sensational headlines with misleading consequences, which do not accurately clarify the content of the article. “Clickbait” headlines are mainly made to attract readability in the case of media publications and/or to earn from clicks in the case of commercial publications.

“Factual manipulation” is a rating given to informational content that uses facts known to be accurate but interprets them in a distorted manner. These reports typically use accurate information to draw incorrect conclusions or claims, thereby misleading consumers of media content about the actual meaning of the facts presented.
