Incorrect claims that Osmani meets with Vučić, and that Kurti is excluded from the talks and replaced by the president

FATBARDH DEMA

Updated: Despite the fact that it was announced that the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, will not meet with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, they nevertheless held a brief meeting. (see here and here)

The information portal "Top-channel.tv" published an article yesterday (May 31) claiming that Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani is meeting with her Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vučić.

The aforementioned media outlet made this claim based on the speech of French President Emmanuel Macron during the GLOBSEC conference held in Bratislava (Slovakia).

Macron announced that on June 1 (today) during the margins of the meetings at the summit of the European Political Community, he will meet separately with Osmani and Vučić. (see here)

So, through this claim, "Top-channel.tv" hints at a joint meeting between Osman and Vučić.

Meanwhile, today (June 1), the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, from the European Leaders Summit in Moldova, said that she has no plans to meet with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, reports "Klankosova.tv". (see here)

"We have no plans to meet with the President of Serbia. As you know, the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is organized in Brussels. It is up to Mr. Borrell to determine the date when he thinks it is necessary to hold such meetings." Osmani said.

The author seems to have made the claim that there will be a meeting between Osman and Vučić in Moldova by not understanding the statement of French President Macron. Macron had actually said that there would be separate meetings with the presidents of the two countries and not a 3- or 4-party meeting:

I hope that tomorrow we will meet, together with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, with the presidents of Kosovo and Serbia, as we did in the Prague edition.

In addition to this incorrect claim from the "Top-channel.tv" portal, this article states that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has already been excluded from the talks and has been replaced by President Vjosa Osmani.

The author of the article did not make it clear how she managed to formulate such a comment. Unable to understand this, hibrid.info has assumed that this comment could have been made due to Kurti's non-presence at this summit. Although it is not known for sure, hibrid.info will clarify for readers the reason for Kurti's non-participation in the meeting in Chisinau, Moldova.

The Summit of the European Political Community is "a meeting or conference of heads of state", which means that in this case Kosovo is represented by the president, as the head of the highest state body. (see here)

In addition to this summit, which is the second of its kind, Kosovo was represented by its president, Vjosa Osmani, at the first summit held last year in Prague. (see here)

Analyze:

From the facts examined and verified by hibrid.info, it appears that this article contains incorrect claims that Vjosa Osmani will meet with Aleksandar Vučić at the summit of the European Political Community.

Also, the article raised another incorrect claim that Prime Minister Kurti was excluded from the talks at this summit, being replaced by President Osmani.
