Through a post on Facebook, the page "Lajminews.info", has claimed that the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, is claiming the position of president of Kosovo.

it visual content was published on Thursday (January 29) on Facebook and by the time of writing it had received over 500 reactions and nearly 400 comments.

What is the truth?

Hibrid.info has not found that there is an official, confirmed proposal that Lumir Abdixhiku has claimed the position of president.

Hibrid.info searched Google with the keywords "Lumir Abdixiku, President". The results do not provide any credible results for this claim, except for a statement by analyst Sali Rexhaj on the "Kosova Live" show on T7, made on January 14 of this year, where he says that for the position of President "Bekim Jashari is not in the game. It is Abdixhiku himself" (here).

Meanwhile, in the comments of the post made by the website "Lajminews.info", readers seem to have perceived the claim as true. (see here)

Days ago, hibrid.info covered similar content, published by the site "The Change Continues" on Facebook. Through this post it was claimed without facts that "During the LDK council meeting, Lumir Abdixhiku claims the post of president of Kosovo".

The current president is Vjosa Osmani, who took office on April 4, 2021, when she was elected by the Assembly of Kosovo. The president's term of office is five years, which means that Osmani is nearing the end of her term (see here).

The election of the president shall take place no later than thirty days before the end of the term of the current president. The presidential candidate must obtain the signatures of at least thirty members of the Assembly of Kosovo. Members of the Assembly may only sign for one candidate for president of Kosovo (see here).

Analyze:

Through a Facebook post, it was claimed that the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, is aiming for the post of president of Kosovo.

However, after fact-checking conducted by hibrid.info, no official confirmation or proposal supporting this claim has been found.

Google searches do not provide credible sources, except for a statement by an analyst on a television show, which does not constitute official fact.

Despite this, some of the commenters on the Facebook post took the claim as true.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses this content as "Fake News".

Reasoning:

The “Fake News” rating is given to informational content that is entirely fabricated or that contains factually incorrect claims or information. Content that is rated as fake news can be defined as having been created and distributed with the intent to misinform the public, i.e., to present a claim that is completely false as fact.
