Last year's Kurti-Marovic meeting is claimed to be current

FESTIM RIZANAJ

Several Serbian-language media outlets published an article on June 17 and 18 about a meeting between former Montenegrin government minister Jovana Marović and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

The content of the article discusses the importance of cooperation between the two countries in all areas. After verification by the fact-checking platform “raskrinkavanje.me” it was found that the meeting took place last year.

Excerpts from the article published in Serbian-language media:

The continuation of cooperation between Montenegro and (so-called) Kosovo in all areas, especially in the economic sphere, is of crucial importance, given that relations between the two countries are already excellent and are constantly developing and improving, it was assessed at the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs Jovana Marović with self-proclaimed Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

The content of the mentioned texts is not disputed from the point of view of authenticity, because Marović actually met with Kurti, during which the mentioned messages were sent.

However, that meeting was not held on June 17, 2023, but in October 2022, during the period when Jovana Marović was Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Montenegro, as well as Minister of European Affairs. This is evidenced by the articles of the Montenegrin and Albanian media of the mentioned period. (here, here)

Considering all relevant facts, we found that the Serbian media undoubtedly published old information about Marović's meeting with Kurti, failing to emphasize that it was not a current event.

Analyze:

The facts show that Prime Minister Kurti's meeting with the former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs of Montenegro, Jovana Marović, took place in October last year (2022), and not on June 17 as claimed by Serbian media.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses it as "misinformation".
