OUR VERDICT

MANIPULATION OF FACTS

The information presented in the text is presented as Mihali's statement, but she did not make the comparison that is claimed.

An image is published showing Dejona Mihali, coordinator of committees in the Vetevendosje Movement (LVV), with the caption "'The problem is not the Serbian List, but the vice-chairmen of PDK and LDK': Dejona Mihali reveals VV's plan to block the state.'"

image was published on Wednesday (September 8) on the Facebook page, named "Jepi zje".

What's wrong with this content?

The information presented in the text is presented as Mihali's statement, however, in her statement she did not make the alleged comparison.

Considering that the image is accompanied by the portrait of Dejona Mihali and the text is formulated in the form direct quote, all content presented in this way creates the belief that we are dealing with an original statement of it.

The caption of this post presents a justification for political developments and the blockade of the Parliament, where it is assessed that initially LVV officials tried to justify the blockade based on Slavko Simić's speech that spoke "in the name of the Serbian people."

However, the post claims that according to Dejona Mihali, the real problem is not the Serbian List, but the fact that the LVV refuses to vote for the vice-presidents proposed by the PDK and LDK.

The text adds that Mihali has linked this vote to the position of the opposition parties regarding the election of the President, emphasizing that there cannot be an agreement only for their positions while the institutions of the Republic, such as the President, are kept in a blockade.

VV MPs and officials today tried to justify the blocking of the Parliament with the speech of Slavko Simić, who spoke in the "name of the Serbian people", as he said, but was opposed by government MPs who, surprisingly, had themselves said and written it in posts.

But, according to Dejona Mihali, the problem lies in VV's refusal to vote for the vice-presidents proposed by PDK and LDK.

Mihali linked their vote to the stance of these parties on the election of the President.

"There cannot be an agreement only for their positions and a blockade for the institutions of the Republic, such as the President," she wrote.

Hibrid.info checked her Facebook account, where she usually presents her positions (see here).

Among the published statuses, there was also one where she expressed the position referred to in the content being discussed (see here).

The post confirms the positions of the LVV official, that this entity conditions the voting of the deputy speakers of the Assembly from the ranks of the PDK and LDK with a broader agreement on the functioning of the institutions.

However, she does not mention the Serbian List at all in her status, which means that the part presented as a quote in the image is an interpretation or paraphrase of the author of the publication.

Analyze

The Facebook page "Jepi zje" published content with the caption "'It's not the Serbian List that's the problem, but the vice-chairmen of PDK and LDK': Dejona Mihali reveals VV's plan to block the state", attaching a portrait of the coordinator of committees in the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV), Dejona Mihali.

In the inscription, the part placed in quotation marks is attributed to Mihal as a direct statement of her own.

Although her post addresses the issue of conditioning the vote for deputy speakers of the Assembly with the blockade of institutions and the issue of the President, verification of Dejona Mihali's official Facebook account found that she did not mention the Serbian List at all in her status.

Given that the content is accompanied by a portrait of Dejona Mihali and is formulated as a direct quote, this entire form of presentation may create the false belief that we are dealing with an authentic statement of hers.

Therefore, based on the working methodology, this content has been assessed as "Manipulation of facts".
