ETRIT REXHEPI

OUR VERDICT

FAKE NEWS

Information about such an agreement cannot be found in either official announcement from either country or in credible media.

"Historic Kosovo Israel Agreement 1000 Israeli soldiers will guard northern Kosovo" is the caption placed on a video by the "feyaislame" account on TikTok.

The publication was made on Saturday (July 4, 2026). The claim appeared in two identical videos, published one after the other, which together have received over 300 views (see here and here).

The facts:

Information about such an agreement cannot be found in either the official announcements of either country or in credible media, whether local or international.

Searching on Google with the words "1000 Israeli soldiers in northern Kosovo"does not lead to any official source or credible reporting on this claim.

Also, a search on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Kosovo with “Israel” does not lead to the announcement with the claim that “1000 Israeli soldiers will guard the north of Kosovo”. Similarly, on the Israeli MFA website for Kosovo (see here).

Hibrid.info has found the official publication of the video in question. The footage shows former Kosovo Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla and former Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid during the Kosovo official's visit to Israel in May 2022 (see here). In the Facebook announcement of May 9, 2022, no specific agreement was mentioned for bringing 1 Israeli soldiers to Kosovo (see here).

During this visit, Gërvalla also gave interviews to the media in Israel. None of them mentioned this issue (see here and here).

Security in the north and Kosovo-Israel relations

NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is an international political and military alliance consisting of 32 member states from Europe and North America. Its main purpose is to guarantee the freedom and security of its member countries through political and military means. In Kosovo, since the end of the war with Serbia, it operates through the KFOR mission for security purposes. Israel is not part of NATO (see here).

Israel agreed to recognize Kosovo as a state on 4 September 2020, as part of the Washington Accords. Diplomatic relations were established on 1 February 2021. On 14 March 2021, Kosovo opened an embassy in Jerusalem (see here).

Analyze:

A video has circulated on TikTok claiming an agreement that 1 Israeli soldiers will guard northern Kosovo.

There is no official announcement or credible source confirming this claim. The footage in the video is from the visit of the former Kosovo Foreign Minister from 2022. There was no mention of any issue as in the claim.

NATO has a security mission in Kosovo, through KFOR. And Israel is not part of NATO.
