Furthermore, EULEX has emphasized the fact that it does not have an executive mandate to investigate alleged cases of beatings.
“After hearing these allegations, the EULEX staff member made it clear that EULEX does not have an executive mandate to investigate the cases and offered to accompany the complainant to the nearest police station where he could report the case. The person in question refused to go to the police station. The EULEX staff member then told the person in question that he would inform the Kosovo Police and EULEX management about this possible issue, which he did. The EULEX North Senior Police Advisor was then contacted yesterday by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, which is the designated authority for handling complaints such as these.
