The University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCK) has begun implementing the decision that obliges accompanying patients over the age of 15 to pay 3 euros per night.
However, some online media have reported incorrectly regarding this decision by the UCCK.
How was it reported by some media?
Media like "Gazetablic.com","Lajmi.net” (February 23) and “Kosovo-sot.online” (February 24), have reported on this decision, but their articles do not specify that the decision only applies to companions of patients over the age of 15.
In the articles of these media it is written "This fee applies to companions of patients receiving hospital treatment, without exception, including pensioners."
“Gazetablic.com” and “Lajmi.net”, in their articles have also published the document that specifies for whom this decision is valid, but this is not mentioned in their respective texts. While “Kosova-sot.info” in the article does not explain in any way the decision of the UCCK, implying that the payment is valid for all accompanying patients, without any exceptions.
Meanwhile, the claim was also found published on Facebook by the pages "RTV Besa","Pencil Info"and "01 Press".
What did the UCCK say?
The University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCK) has given a response to the media Radio Free Europe on this issue.
It says that this tariff has started to be implemented this month and is valid for all caregivers of patients over 15 years of age, in accordance with administrative instructions.
"This obligation applies to all clinics, with the exception of the Oncology Clinic and clinics where patients with malignant diseases are treated, despite the fact that patients may be hospitalized in other clinics within UCCK", says the answer.
Analyze:
UCCK has started implementing the decision that patient companions will pay 3 euros per night of stay in the clinics of this center. However, this decision only applies to those people who accompany patients over the age of 15. However, some online media have reported this fact without specifying, implying that the fee applies to everyone, without exception.
Meanwhile, UCCK, in a response to Radio Free Europe, has clarified the situation, specifying that the payment of 3 euros per 24 hours applies only to accompanying persons of patients over the age of 15 and that the Oncology Clinic and clinics where patients with malignant diseases are treated are exempt from this co-payment.
Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses these reports as "Manipulation of facts".
Reasoning:
“Factual manipulation” is a rating given to informational content that uses facts known to be accurate but interprets them in a distorted manner. These reports typically use accurate information to draw incorrect conclusions or claims, thereby misleading consumers of media content about the actual meaning of the facts presented.
