The news that the Vatican and Spain recognize Kosovo is untrue

HIBRID

The dubious portal "Fjalët.com" has published an article stating that the Vatican and Spain recognize the independence of the state of Kosovo.

The title does not match the text within this article, as its content presents an analysis by Enver Bytyçi, professor of international and Balkan relations, on the effect that the Vatican's recognition of Kosovo would have.

In an interview with Tirana television, OraNews, Bytyçi assessed that eventual recognition by the Holy See would also affect recognition by other European Union countries.

Original article published on "Fjalët.com":

CONGRATULATIONS / Great news came from the Vatican and Spain, do they recognize the independence of the state of Kosovo?

International relations professor Enver Bytyçi has said that if the Vatican were to recognize the state of Kosovo soon, this would be its final recognition.

According to him, after the Vatican, Spain and other European Union countries will also be forced to recognize Kosovo, reports Bota Sot.

Bytyçi emphasized that if the American president convinces the Pope of this, he will join the ranks of the three other presidents before him as a personality with maximum support from Albanians.

Bytyç's reaction on Facebook:

If the Vatican were to quickly recognize the state of Kosovo, then I would consider this its final recognition!

At the end of this article published by Fjalet.com, it is stated that Bytyqi gave this assessment through a post on his Facebook profile. Meanwhile, after searching by Hibrid.info, it is seen that the professor from Durrës made this analysis during an interview given to OraNews, and not through his Facebook profile. Also, Bytyqi during this interview did not give assessments that are mentioned in the article published by Fjalet.com.

Byty's statementçit in OraNews:

The agreement was complete in its draft. In all points except point 10 and the point where it was discussed about the recognition of the state of Kosovo by Israel, they were in favor of Serbia. I would consider such an agreement justifiable if point 10 were not removed where Serbia committed to recognizing Kosovo in the future. Removing this point nullifies the entire agreement. The condition fell, the agreement should have fallen too. For me, the agreement is broken. The Albanian side does not learn lessons from the 20-year dialogue with Serbia. In Kosovo and Albania we have two negative elements, first we trust friends but friends do what you ask and both of us Albanians start things and leave them half done. We do not care to go to face Serbia with a progressive and smart agenda. The Kosovo delegation should have foreseen that something would happen at that meeting, at least the opposition of the Serbian side to committing to the recognition of Kosovo. There should have been a plan B. The US could have asked for recognition from the Vatican in return, which would have led the EU to put pressure on the 5 countries that have not recognized Kosovo. If these 5 countries recognize it, Kosovo is accepted into the EU and NATO without obstacles. This acceptance without any negotiations with Serbia automatically leads Kosovo to become a member of the UN after some time..

Analyze:

The title of the text published by “Fjalët.com” is false and has nothing to do with its content. This article falls into the “Fake News”, “Disinformation” and “Clickbait” categories.

Reasoning:

Fake news – The "Fake News" rating is given to media reports that are entirely the product of a medium that itself contains factually incorrect claims or information.

Content that is considered fake news can be reliably determined to have been created and distributed with the intent to misinform the public, i.e., to present a claim that is completely false as fact.

Disinformation – The rating “Disinformation” is given to media reporting that contains a “mix” of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful content. This rating will also address reports that have incorrect attributions or headlines that do not reflect the text in terms of information accuracy.

Clickbait – “Clickbait” are those texts whose title has no basis in the content of the following text. Such texts and articles aim to attract the attention of the reader or even the consumer with a sensational title by promising content that does not actually exist and are created mainly out of financial interest, that is, due to increased readability. So, this type of text is only intended to click, which can be converted into a profit for the content producer.
