Raka: Before October, it is planned to vaccinate 500 thousand citizens of Kosovo
The seasonal flu that usually appears from the months of October, November and December can worsen the situation with COVID-19 in Kosovo.
Microbiologist Lul Raka in an interview for RTV Dukagjini says that it is necessary to vaccinate around 500 thousand citizens this year.
"This year we will have two enemies at the same time. It is normal that it is more difficult to fight with two enemies at the same time because even the seasonal flu will consume hospital capacity as there will be people hospitalized from the flu as well", stated Lul Raka.
According to the microbiologist, staying indoors will be a problem as it increases the possibility of the flu spreading.
"It is precisely for this reason that 500 vaccines have been requested. As far as I know, WHO has already provided 120 thousand vaccines for Kosovo, but the rest will be provided by the Ministry of Health. As far as I know, the tender has already been announced. With these vaccines, there will be more people immunized because when you have the opportunity to prevent the flu with a vaccine, why not do it. Receiving vaccines will certainly affect the reduction of the number of seasonal flu cases".
Speaking about the coronavirus, Raka says that the best prevention is compliance with the recommendations of health institutions.
