The union leader does not deny but clarifies the claim about the police officers' pay

HIBRID

Several media outlets with content in Albanian have published an article titled "The head of the Police Union denies the VV official's claim that the policeman's salary is 3 thousand euros".

The articles in these media outlets were initiated due to a Facebook status by Egzon Azemi, an official of the Vetëvendosje Movement, who stated that most police officers engaged in the north in the recent period have been paid over 2000 and in some cases up to 3000 euros, specifying the extended hours as the reason.

Regarding this statement, Izmi Zeqiri, head of the Police Union, has expressed his views, clarifying the reasons for the payments for the amounts declared by Azem, confirming the extended hours as the reason for these payments, as well as explaining that it is not a basic salary of 2000 or 2500 euros.

Meanwhile, in the headlines of the aforementioned media articles, it is claimed that the head of the Police Union has denied Azem's explanation.

Given the fact that Azem and Zeqiri's statements agree on the reasons for these payments, and considering that Azem did not specify whether this refers to the basic salary or not, hibrid.info has confirmed that the statement of the head of the Police Union regarding this issue does not reflect a denial of the LVV official.

Links to the article published by "Gazeta Express" and "Periscope":

Hibrid.info has assessed that the title of these articles claims that LVV official, Egzon Azemi, has made a statement about police salaries.

But after researching the facts, it is understood that in his statement, Azem did not refer to salary or basic wage (see here).

He stated that police officers "in the north have recently been paid over 2000 and in some cases up to 3000 euros, especially due to the long working hours," without specifying whether this is the base salary.

Egzon Azemi's full status on Facebook:

We may not have met 100% of the police's salary request. And this will definitely be resolved.

But most importantly, their dignity has been restored. Today, they enjoy the respect of citizens more than ever.

Why? Because they no longer misused it to arrest political and civic opponents.

Because they are no longer transferred, belittled, and degraded when they condemn a family member or friend or the person in power themselves, as has happened in the recent past.

Today, each police officer is a symbol of the defense of the Republic. PS, for your information, most of those who have been engaged in the north in the recent period are paid over 2000 and in some cases up to 3000 euros, especially due to the extended hours.

And undoubtedly the conditions for them will be further improved!

Hibrid.info has also found that the statement of the head of the Police Union, Izmi Zeqiri, confirms and further clarifies Azemi's claim regarding the payments received in the recent period by police officers (see here).

Full statement by the head of the Police Union, Izmi Zeqiri:

"Here we need to clarify this 2500 and 3 euros. The special operations units during operations in the North have stayed for weeks and months without returning home.

They worked 24 hours a day, 16 hours of overtime. By a decision of the minister, overtime was paid.

It is true that there are police officers from the operational units in the north who stayed at work for two or three days without going home, and they were paid overtime and received a salary of 2 and 3 euros.

The basic salary is 619 euros regardless of where you work, whether it is in the north, south or center of Pristina.

Here you have to divide the hours after the working hours.

"There is no police salary of 2 thousand, 2500 or 3 thousand euros. Meanwhile, when people sleep even at work, this has led to some individuals receiving a salary of 2500 euros for overtime, I don't know about 3 thousand, but it is possible."

Based on this statement, Zeqiri has clarified that the payments that Azemi declared are related to the extended working hours of police officers engaged in the north of the country (as Azemi also stated in his status). As can be seen, he has not even ruled out the possibility that they were paid up to 3 thousand euros, although he stated that he has no information.

Analyze:

Several Albanian-language media outlets have published an article, the title of which claims that a statement by Egzon Azemi, an LVV official, on police salaries, has been rejected by the head of the Police Union.

But, after verification by hibrid.info, it has been confirmed that Azem did not declare the police salary and that the police chief did not refute Azem's statement, confirming and clarifying it further.

Based on the working methodology, hibrid.info evaluates the article as "Clickbait".

The “Clickbait” rating is given to texts whose titles have no basis in the content of the following text. Such texts and articles aim to attract the attention of the reader or even the consumer with a sensational title by promising content that does not actually exist and are created mainly out of financial interest, that is, due to increased readability.
