A photograph has been published with a caption claiming that Vlora Çitaku, the vice president of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), has made a statement regarding the establishment of the Special Court, stating that they were deceived after hoping that Hashim Thaçi, the former president of Kosovo, would not be indicted.

it CONTENT was published today (December 17) on TikTok by an account named "me.qeverine.kurti3".

What's wrong with content?

Hibrid.info has found that Çitaku's statement was presented incorrectly in this case.

After research, hibrid.info has found a video material which Çitaku was invited to an interview last night (December 16) on the show "DPT TE FIDANI" on "Klan Kosova" television.

Hibrid.info has found that the former Kosovo ambassador to the United States of America (US) also spoke about the establishment of the Special Court.

In another video material Excerpted from this interview and titled "Çitaku on the establishment of the Special Court: We were deceived, because the intention was good", it is noted that Çitaku stated that although they were deceived because the intention of establishing the Special Court was good, Thaçi and the others knew that they would be tried by this institution.

Çitaku's transcribed statements from this interview regarding the Special Court:

"Even in democratic countries and in the US where I served for many years, seven years, when a court, when a judicial process violates procedures, there is always a voice raised by human rights organizations, but also by relevant institutions. We are not asking for justice to be interfered with, for justice to be diverted. We are asking for justice to be served and unfortunately, so far, we have seen very little justice. Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi have known very well the high cost that they will personally bear in this process. Hashim Thaçi has known very well that if this court is approved in the Kosovo Parliament, the first target would be him. But for him, as in war as in peace, the fate of Kosovo is much more important than his personal fate and he has supported the establishment of this court at personal risk, precisely to save Kosovo from a national inquisition.

"I think we were deceived, because the intention was good, there were some monstrous accusations and each of us has demanded that those accusations be investigated, even through a special mechanism, sui generis and so on."

Which means that Çitaku's statement from this interview has been presented and manipulated in the content discussed.

Analyze:

The alleged statement that Vlora Çitaku, the vice president of PDK, said that they were deceived because they hoped that Hashim Thaçi, the former president of Kosovo, would not be indicted by the Special Court, is incorrect.

Hibrid.info has found that in fact, Çitaku said that Thaçi knew that he would be the target of the Special Court after its establishment and that they feel deceived by what is happening in the process because the purpose of its establishment was good.
