On June 26, 2025, Hibrid.info published a ITEM of fact-checking entitled “Minister Murati’s statement that the opposition refused to vote on the 90 million euro loan agreement is not entirely accurate.” On the same day, the acting Minister of Finance, Mr. Hekuran Murati, reacted through a Facebook post with the title "When even 'fact-checkers' lie!", making unfounded accusations against Hibrid.info and its staff.
For the sake of transparency towards the public, we would like to clarify the following:
- The minister's statement is correctly quoted in the article. The assessment as "half-truth" was not made based on any distortion of the statement, but on the fact that the minister generalized the opposition's position without specifying that only the LDK did not participate in the vote.
- There is no contradiction in our statements.. The article mentions that LDK MPs did not participate in the vote, and at the same time emphasizes that it is not known exactly how many other MPs were physically in the hall, based on official statements. Both of these pieces of information are accurate and help to contextualize the situation.
The Hibrid.info team values the right and the space for reaction, just as it welcomes cooperation from all parties. However, it is completely against its misuse and the use of this right to slander. The acting minister, Murati, did this in his post. For this reason, we appreciate that:
- Accusations of political bias are unfounded and violate the ethics of public communication.. Hibrid.info is an independent platform that operates according to international standards for fact-checking, as a member of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) and the European Fact-Checking Network (EFCSN). We are not affiliated with any political entity and remain true to our professional methodology.
- Attempting to personalize criticism is a low and unethical act. – by mentioning the author of the article. It is unacceptable and can be perceived as pressure on journalists. This does not help democratic debate and undermines freedom of speech.
Hibrid.info is a public platform that serves the general interest. Our data and reports have also been used by various local and international figures and institutions. They have also been used in certain cases by representatives of the Vetëvendosje Movement, when our findings have aligned with their positions and have been called data published by a very credible organization.
Hibrid.info stands behind every publication, made by each researcher. The methodological approach is not individual, but built at the organizational level and certified by international networks of fact-checkers.
Hibrid.info is a good that belongs to Kosovar society. This platform is a common good, built on professionalism and goodwill. It must be protected and used for the general interest, not misused and tried to tarnish, as, unfortunately, it remains among the few initiatives in the country that enjoy international credibility and reputation.
We will continue to work with dedication, correctness and transparency in the verification and control of facts, relying on professional principles and impartiality. We also invite the minister and any other party to maintain institutional ethics and engage in a constructive dialogue.
