UEFA's penalty for Albania for closing the stands behind the goals is suspended conditionally

FATBARDH DEMA

The "Albania Team" Facebook page published a post yesterday (September 20) claiming that the European football governing body (UEFA) has sentenced the Albanian national team to close the two stands behind the goal during national team matches for two years.

However, after verification of the facts conducted by hibrid.info, it has been confirmed that the claim made by the aforementioned website is untrue.

The announcement made by the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) states that UEFA has imposed a fine of 44 thousand euros for throwing fireworks on the playing field during the match with Poland.

Meanwhile, the decision to close the stadium has been suspended for a trial period, starting with the next home match against the Czech Republic. So, the trial period includes the condition that in future home matches there will be no fireworks in the stadium.

The original caption on the post published by the "Albania Team" Facebook page:

UEFA sentences the Albanian Football Association (AFSH) to close the two stands behind the goal during national team matches for two years. ????????.

The Albanian Football Association (AFSH) was also fined 30 euros for the fireworks and 14 euros for several shortcomings in the organization of the match.

Hibrid.info has found the announcement issued by the Albanian Football Association regarding the penalty imposed by UEFA. (see here)

Excerpt from the AFF announcement:

The Albanian Football Federation was informed a few minutes ago of the decision of the UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, which has decided to fine the Albanian Football Association 44 thousand euros for throwing fireworks on the playing field, throwing hard objects, blocking passageways in certain sectors of the stadium and partially closing the stadium in the northern and southern stands.

The closing of these stands is on the condition that there are no fireworks in the stadium during home matches. The decision to close the stadium has been suspended for a trial period, starting with the next home game against the Czech Republic.

Closing the stadium would be detrimental to our national team at this time when the intended objective is to have the 12th player present.

Analyze:

After verifying the facts, hibrid.info has confirmed that the "Albania Team" website falsely claimed that UEFA has punished Albania, as it is said, for two years to close the two stands behind the goals, as a result of the Albanian fans throwing fireworks in the match against Poland.

The AFF's announcement states that this decision has been suspended for a trial period, and that the closure of these stands is on the condition that in future home matches there will be no fireworks in the stadium.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses the posting of the "Albania Team" page as "Disinformation".

Reasoning:

A “Disinformation” rating is given to media reporting that contains a “mix” of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful content. This rating will also address reports that have incorrect attributions or headlines that do not reflect the text in terms of information accuracy.
