Content has been published on social media claiming that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has declared that 2,176 euros will be provided for every newborn from this month during the first year.
This content with this claim was published (June 5) on Facebook by the pages “Kosovo Report”And“Newspaper 17 February".
What's wrong with this claim?
The claim is incorrect, as there is no official statement from Prime Minister Albin Kurti confirming the alleged payment for newborns.
After the claim was published on June 5, hibrid.info researched Prime Minister Kurti's Facebook account and checked for posts from that date. Based on some of the content found, it was understood that on that date, the Prime Minister held a government meeting.
One of the posts indicates that at this meeting, allowances for mothers on maternity leave were increased from 170 euros to 325.9 euros, the government's payment for maternity leave was increased from 223 euros to 319.5 euros, and funds were allocated for the second salary increase of 55 euros for public officials (see here).
Which means that the alleged decision does not appear in the list of decisions published during this date.
In another post where Prime Minister Kurti explains the increase in support for young mothers, he also mentions monthly child allowances, which he emphasizes are at least 20 euros per month or 120 euros for the first six months (see here).
Hibrid.info has further researched this account, for posts after this date, to find any announcement from Kurti confirming the increase in child allowances, but nothing of the kind has been found (see here).
The latest decision encountered, where Prime Minister Kurti confirmed the increase in child allowances, dates back to July 18, 2024 (see here).
