An article is published announcing that Bashkim Jashari, commander of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), has visited Turkey and it is claimed that the latter is of Chechen origin.
it CONTENT was published yesterday (April 22) on the website "albania.news-pravda.com", of the Russian network "Pravda".
What is the truth?
The claim of Jashar's Chechen origin is not based on any verifiable facts.

Hibrid.info has researched the KSF website, where it found the biography of Commander Jashari (see here).
It is stated that Jashari was born in Prekaz i Poshtëm, Skenderaj, and that he is one of the two survivors of the family of national heroes, Adem and Hamëz Jashari, who fought in the three-day siege that was imposed on the Jashari family by Serbian police, military and paramilitary forces.
This biography does not mention any Chechen origin of his.
Hibrid.info has also searched the search engine, “Google”, to find evidence of the Jashari family’s ancestry. An article from an archived website, “ademjashari.com”, mentions some of Bashkim Jashari’s family ancestors. Also, this article does not mention the alleged Chechen ancestry (see here).
Jashari's visit was also announced on the KSF website. The announcement states that Jashari's visit to Turkey (April 21, 2025) serves to deepen military cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on building the capacities of the KSF, through training, joint exercises and exchange of experiences (see here).
Who are the Chechens?
Chechens are an ethnic group of the Nakh origin from the North Caucasus. They constitute the largest ethnic group in this region and call themselves Nokhchiy (singular: Nokhchi, Nokhcho, Nakhchuo or Nakhche). The vast majority of Chechens are Muslim and reside in Chechnya, an autonomous republic within the Russian Federation.
What is the “Pravda” network?
According to an article published in the medium, "Radio Free Europe", the "Pravda" network emerged after Russian state media outlets Russia Today and Sputnik were banned in the EU following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
By early 2025, it had grown into a “global disinformation ecosystem” consisting of around 190 sites in 83 countries, spreading Russian propaganda in dozens of languages.
"Pravda is the connecting node of several disinformation networks linked to the Russian state. These networks spread narratives that incite anti-European and anti-Western sentiments," says Georgi Angelov.
He adds that through the Pravda network, social and ethnic tensions increase in the targeted regions, and that membership in the EU and NATO will only be possible for countries that do not have open conflicts or unresolved problems with their neighbors.
