Hibrid.info presents report on artificial intelligence chatbots at GlobalFact2026

HIBRID

Six months after publication, Hibrid.info's research report "The Chatbot's Version of Truth: A Study on the Spread of Narratives through Artificial Intelligence Chatbots” continues to be part of international discussions on artificial intelligence (AI), information integrity, and the future of fact-checking.

Hibrid.info has presented the main findings of this report in GlobalFact, the world's largest fact-checking summit, held June 17–20 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

GlobalFact, organized by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), brought together hundreds of fact-checkers, journalists, researchers, technology experts, representatives of digital platforms, and civil society organizations from around the world to discuss the most important challenges related to disinformation, artificial intelligence, and information integrity.

As part of the official summit program, Hibrid.info’s Head of Editorial and Program Coordination, Hyrije Mehmeti, presented the research report in a panel held on the event’s main stage, highlighting how chatbots like ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Alice shape, and sometimes distort, geopolitical narratives, with a focus on Kosovo and the Western Balkans, within a broader global comparison. The panel also included Rawan Damen from Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), Adrianus Warmenhoven from NordVPN, and Alan Duke from Lead Stories.

The presentation highlighted that, while artificial intelligence models have become more advanced, many of the challenges identified in the report remain relevant. Hallucinations, lack of context, differences in the treatment of historical events and sensitive political topics, as well as the influence of data sources on chatbot responses, continue to pose challenges to the quality and reliability of AI-generated information.

Although the artificial intelligence ecosystem is developing at a rapid pace, the report's continued discussion at high-level international conferences proves that the topics it addresses and many of its findings continue to remain relevant.

The discussion at GlobalFact2026 also confirmed that professional journalism, fact-checking, and human expertise remain irreplaceable elements in an information environment where more and more citizens are using chatbots as a source of information.

Towards the next phase of research

The continued interest in the report's findings also demonstrates the growing importance of Hibrid.info's research in the field of artificial intelligence and the role the organization is playing in the international debate on the future of information, technology, and democracy.

In this context, Hibrid.info's participation in GlobalFact2026 through the Executive Director, Shkelzen Osmani, the Operations and Strategy Manager, Albijona Gashi, the Project Manager, Xhemajl Avdyli and Hyrije Mehmeti, also served as an opportunity to present the next phase of research work in the field of artificial intelligence. Building on the experience and findings of the report "Chatbot's Version of Truth", the Hibrid.info team is working on a new research, which is expected to be presented in the coming months.
