The claim that Sami Lushtaku has resigned is incorrect. He only announced his resignation under a certain condition.

Through a Facebook post, it was implied that the mayor of Skenderaj, Sami Lushtaku, has offered to resign from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).

Publication dated June 17 from the page "News Post” contains a photo of Lushtaku with the caption “Sami Lushtaku: I resign from PDK…!” And the news item that is clicked through the link included in the comment leads to the website “cookfixes.com", which does not represent the domain of portals or media officially registered in Kosovo (see here).

What does the content say and how does it differ from publishing on Facebook?

The Facebook post by some commentators may have been taken as a statement that presents “Lushtaku’s resignation from PDK” as a done deal. However, the content of the article emphasizes that Lushtaku has stated that he would resign from the position of chairman of the PDK branch in Skenderaj, whether Cooperation agreement reached with the Vetevendosje Movement at the central level.

Full content:

The Mayor of Skenderaj, Sami Lushtaku, has stated that if PDK reaches a cooperation agreement with LVV, he will resign from the position of the mayor of the branch in Skenderaj.

Lushtaku said that PDK should not cooperate with a political entity that prioritizes poisonous and degrading language.

"If the Democratic Party of Kosovo reaches an agreement or forms a coalition with the LVV, I will automatically resign from the position of the head of the branch in Skenderaj. They know better, they are the party leadership, but for me, cooperation with a political entity that prioritizes poisonous language is unacceptable..." /rtv21

The media outlet “rtv21.tv” is quoted there. The media outlet that first published the statement, “rtv21.tv", he titled it "Lushtaku warns: I will resign if PDK reaches an agreement with LVV."

So, while the media outlet that first published it presented Lushtak's statement as a warning, the claim from the "Post Lajmee" website presents it as a done deal.

To confirm that this is not a final act of resignation, hibrid.info has also conducted a Google search with the words "Sami Lushtaku resigns from PDK". The search does not lead to any credible piece of information that would substantiate the act of resignation.

The Facebook post from this page has received 30 comments. Some of them imply that they took the post for granted.

Context:

Sami Lushtaku is the head of the PDK branch in Skenderaj. He and actors from the Vetëvendosje Movement have been in verbal clashes for some time now, leading to accusations of violence on the eve of the campaign for the June 7 parliamentary elections (see here).

Analyze:

The claim that Sami Lushtaku has resigned from the PDK has been presented as a made-up issue by a Facebook page.

In fact, Lushtaku has stated that he will resign from the position of chairman of the PDK branch in Skenderaj only if the party reaches a cooperation agreement with LVV.

The original RTV21 publication presents this as a warning and not as a completed resignation.
