An event from 2017 is published as current and the headline does not clarify that it happened in Greece

HIBRID

An information portal with content in the Albanian language has published today (February 15) an article titled "Shocking/ Father "sells" minor daughter to elderly man: He left me 2-20 euros every time...

After fact-checking conducted by hibrid.info, it has been confirmed that the title of this article is a generalization, which does not clarify in which country the event occurred.

The news is clarified only in the content, where it is revealed that the event took place in Greece.

After research conducted through online search engines, it was confirmed that the news is old, published in 2017.

Given the fact that this information portal is registered in Albania (see here) and the contents published by this portal are in Albanian, the title in question leaves room for misinformation among readers that the event occurred in any of the Albanian-speaking countries.

To further confirm the fact that the event occurred in Greece, hibrid.info has found the article about the same event published by the Greek media outlet "ekathimerini.com" on August 26, 2017. (see here)

Analyze:

After fact-checking conducted by hibrid.info, it was confirmed that an Albanian-language information portal published an article regarding an old event (2017), claiming to present it as current, and the title does not clarify its location.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses this article as "Clickbait" and "Disinformation".

Reasoning:

“Clickbait” are those texts whose title has no basis in the content of the following text. Such texts and articles aim to attract the attention of the reader or even the consumer with a sensational title by promising content that does not actually exist and are created mainly out of financial interest, that is, due to increased readability. So, this type of text is only intended to click, which can be converted into a profit for the content producer.

"Disinformation" is defined as information content that contains a "mix" of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful attributes, and that is created and/or distributed with the deliberate intention of causing harm. The motive behind the producers/distributors of disinformation content lies in achieving a political, financial, psychological or social goal.
