Through headlines in the regional media, but also in Albanian on social media, claims have been circulating about what the new football stadium in Kosovo will look like.
"A breathtaking concept is presented: Kosovo is getting one of the most modern stadiums in the Balkans," is the title of "sports.ba" in Bosnia and Herzegovina, published on July 7.
Other publications followed. "Designs unveiled: Is the former Yugoslav state getting one of the most modern stadiums?", carry the titles of two articles in croatia e Montenegro. "Look at what stadium Kosovo is building. It will be among the most beautiful in the region", is the title of another article (see here).
Meanwhile, later, on social media, Albanian-language pages shared the claim with similar or translated titles (see here, here and here).
Everyone's claim is that this stadium will be built for the "2030 Mediterranean Games" that are expected to be organized in the capital of Kosovo.
What's wrong with these titles?
While the headlines leave the impression that the design in question has been determined as the final project for what Kosovo's planned stadium will look like, neither the content of the articles nor the official facts say such a thing.
According to the contents, it is a concept created by architect Ardit Hamza, founder of “PixLine Designs studio”, as part of his master's thesis at the Technical University of Graz in Austria. With a search with the name of the architect in question and the company mentioned, Hibrid.info has found that the publication of the photos now presented in the media, had occurred weeks ago on the company's account on “Instagram". On June 23, 2026, the publication was made by "sportsrender", a platform that publishes designs of sports facilities. And a day later this concept was published on the site in Facebook of "PixLine Designs", and it is noted there that it is part of the master's thesis.
Furthermore, there has been no reporting on the selection of the proposed stadium design. Google searches for the words “The stadium design for the Mediterranean Games is selected” or “This is what the new stadium in Kosovo will look like" They do not lead to credible articles that any design has been selected for what this stadium could look like.
On the website of the Capital City Architect's Service, in 2024 An announcement has been published about the Olympic Village for the 2030 Mediterranean Games. There is no mention of the stadium design.
What is known about the process of organizing the Mediterranean Games?
The Assembly approved the Law on the Mediterranean Games on 23 April 2026 (see here). According to the law, it is foreseen that after the formation of the Organizing Committee of the Mediterranean Games (OCMG), this committee has six months to submit the final version of the Master Plan for the organization of the Mediterranean Games to obtain the approval of the Executive Committee of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games.
On this issue, on May 17, the Kosovo Olympic Committee announced that coordination meetings have been completed with a focus on the presentation of the Master Plan by the responsible company (see here).
In this announcement, the KOK mentioned a Facebook page called “Prishtina 2030” as a page dedicated to the Mediterranean Games. A search of this page shows that there is no defined design for Kosovo’s new stadium, as claimed in the articles under discussion (see here).
Previously on March 3, the mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, had announced that the crucial planning phase for the detailing of the master plan of the facilities was being entered. “We are analyzing the locations, infrastructure needs and key decisions for the organization,” he had written (see here).
Reports of delays with sports infrastructure
Delays in sports infrastructure construction have been reported in the media on several occasions. The focus has been on the stadium where the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2030 Mediterranean Games are supposed to take place (see here and here).
Preliminary designs for the national stadium
Kosovo's national stadium has been a topic of discussion for years. The biggest discussions were when the location became unclear. Political actors clashed over the years over whether it should be built in Bërnica, Pristina, or in Korretica, Drenas.
On June 14, 2019, a ceremony was held to present the National Stadium project, planned to be built near Drenas. The ceremony was attended by senior state officials of the time and the Football Federation (see here).
But to date there are no reports of construction starting.
Analyze:
Headlines that present a design for Kosovo's new stadium as a completed project are misleading.
The photos represent a concept by architect Ardit Hamza, part of his master's thesis, and not the official project.
There is no official information that any design has been selected for the stadium planned for the 2030 Mediterranean Games.
Based on the methodology, hibrid.info rates these titles as "unverified content"
Reasoning:
The "Unverified" rating is given to those informative contents that do not provide sufficient information to confirm the claims made in the report, and which could not be verified due to certain circumstances (speed, lack of sources) during the publication of the content.
