No agreement has been reached between SBASHK and the Government, as claimed.

HIBRID

The Facebook page “Gazeta Newborn” (presented as media) published a post yesterday (September 9) claiming that an agreement has been reached between the United Trade Union of Education, Science and Culture (SBASHK) and the Ministry of Education and Science (MEST), through which the strike ends and classes begin on Monday. According to this post, it is also claimed that the agreement will be announced this weekend.

This post features an image of the head of SBASHK, Rrahman Jashari, and the MEST building, while the narrative section describes a news story about the alleged termination of the education workers' strike.

After verifying the facts, hibrid.info assesses that the claim that an agreement has been reached between SBASHK and MEST is untrue. This is because the opposite of this claim is argued by a statement from SBASHK, published today (September 10) on their official website, which states that there is still no agreement.

Parts of the information published in "Newborn Newspaper":

Agreement reached, classes begin in schools on Monday

An agreement has been reached between SBASHK and MEST, which also ends the teachers' strike.

Sources from the NewBorn Newspaper indicate that there is already an agreement between these two parties and that the agreement will be officially announced over the weekend and the teaching process will begin on Monday. It is not yet known what agreement they have made, but what is known is that the teaching process will begin on Monday.

The claim of an agreement between SBASHK and MEST to end the strike and continue teaching turns out to be false due to the fact that today (September 10) SBASHK has published a statement in which there is no mention of any agreement being reached.

As stated in the SBASHK press release, representatives of the Government of Kosovo, namely ministers Arbëria Nagavci (MEST) and Hekuran Murati (MoF), wanted the strike to end without reaching an agreement.

Parts of the MEST press release:

This shows that they really do not want dialogue or a solution to the strikers' legitimate demands. In order to avoid public exposure of their stance and stubbornness, they did not invite the media to cover the meeting at MASHTI or at the Government premises.

From now on, the legitimate representatives of the BSPK, i.e. the Strike Council, will go to meetings, but only when the government behaves as an equal party and conducts a substantive debate and deals with the demands of the strikers. Meetings in the style of "you unions, keep quiet and accept what we are saying" will no longer exist. The government is the only one to blame and as long as it continues with ignorance and dry speeches, the strike will continue because this is what the strikers, not the individuals, have decided.

So, despite the fact that "Gazeta Newborn" bases the claim on its own sources, the publication of the press release by SBASHK itself, made a day later, denies it, since it is an official position of one of the parties involved in the process.

The claim of reaching an agreement was also published on the information portal "botapress.info". (see here

Analyze:

The "Gazeta Newborn" Facebook page yesterday (September 9) published information that an agreement has been reached between SBASHK and MEST to end the strike and start classes.

This claim was denied after SBASHK published a statement today (September 10) stating that there is no agreement and that the strike continues.

After verifying the facts, hibrid.info assesses that the information about reaching an agreement between the Albanian Ministry of Education and Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education is "fake news".

Rating:

The "Fake News" rating is given to media reports that are entirely the product of a medium that itself contains factually incorrect claims or information.

Content that is considered fake news can be reliably determined to have been created and distributed with the intent to misinform the public, i.e., to present a claim that is completely false as fact.
