OUR VERDICT

CONSPIRACY THEORY

The Kosovo Police has announced that on June 4, 2026, in the village of Uglare - Graçanicë, a person suspected of the criminal offense of "giving or receiving a bribe in connection with voting" was arrested.

Serbian official Petkovic has claimed that the arrest of Serbian List member Aleksandar Trajkovic in the village of Uglare constitutes a political move by acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, with the aim, according to him, of helping Nenad Rašić in the election race. In his statement, he described the detention as “pressure on Serbs in Kosovo” and as part of a campaign of intimidation during the election process, accusing institutions in Pristina of direct political interference.

What is known about the case?

According to the Kosovo Police, on June 4, 2026, in Uglare - Graçanicë, a person suspected of the criminal offense of "giving or receiving a bribe in connection with voting" has been arrested. The investigations have been launched following an operational information, where it is suspected that the arrested person invited citizens to a bar to instruct them on how to vote for a political entity, while in exchange for their vote they were promised social benefits from Serbia.

During the search of the premises and the suspect's apartment, material evidence related to the suspicions of the criminal offense was seized, while the person was detained for 48 hours by decision of the prosecutor.

The official announcement by the Kosovo Police does not mention any political motive of the Kosovo institutions, nor any connection of the case with favoritism of any party or candidate in the electoral race. The case is being treated as a criminal investigation for suspicions of electoral corruption and vote manipulation.

Petkovic's claim that the arrest is a "political action by Kurti to help Nenad Rašić" is not based on any data confirmed by law enforcement institutions. On the contrary, official information speaks of an investigative procedure based on suspicions of a criminal offense directly related to the election process and not of a political decision by the government or its intervention in favor of any candidate.

Analyze:

So far, official data shows that the arrest case in Uglare is being treated as a suspicion of electoral corruption and vote manipulation, while there is no published evidence linking it to political motivation on the part of the Kosovo Government.

In this context, Petkovic's statements about an "orchestrated political action" remain unconfirmed and do not match the information from official institutions.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info considers this claim to be a "conspiracy theory".

Reasoning:

"Conspiracy theories" are considered to be informational content that contains a false or unverifiable description of a phenomenon, event or person, presenting it as part or the result of a secret plan ("conspiracy"). The characteristic of these contents is that they present a series of claims, presented as facts, between which cause-effect relationships are established, without providing any reliable evidence.
