False claims that Kosovo is being supplied with weapons from Great Britain continue to be published in articles with content in Albanian.

HIBRID

Serbian media in recent days have claimed that Great Britain has provided weapons to the Kosovo Army.

This claim is still being published and distributed in articles in the Albanian language, through social media. Hibrid.info today (April 20) found such an article published by “Albasky.com”, in the title of which it is written that “Britain donates to Kosovo “Javelin” and “NLAW” missiles like the ones that are burning Russian tanks in Ukraine”.

The content of this article includes news published by the Serbian media outlet "Novosti.rs", with the unfounded claim that "Official London has handed over to the authorities in Pristina "Jewelin" and "NLAW" missiles, which are being used by Ukrainian forces in the fight against Russian troops."

The article published in the Serbian media "Novosti.rs" stating that Great Britain has distributed weapons to the Kosovo Army can be found here. here.

However, this has been denied by the British Embassy in Serbia, after media insistence to address this claim (see here).

"Completely fabricated accusations of sending weapons from Great Britain to Kosovo appeared in some Belgrade media. There is not a shred of truth in these accusations," it is stated in the announcement of the Embassy.

Serbian media have made these claims, finding justification in the publication of KFOR (April 15) posted on their official Facebook page, regarding the landing of a British military transport plane at Pristina Airport (see here)

However, KFOR has announced that this transport plane has come to bring support to the British KFOR contingent and not to provide armed support to the Kosovo Army, as claimed by Serbian media.

Hibrid.info has addressed similar claims to those in the media, made by Serbia's institutional leaders, starting with the President, Aleksandar Vučić, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandar Vulin, and the Chairman of the Committee on Kosovo in the Serbian Parliament, Milovan Drecun (see here).

Analyze:

The Serbian media's claim that Great Britain is arming the Kosovo Army continues to be spread by dubious portals with content in Albanian.

Hibrid.info has found such an article published by the dubious portal "Albasky.com" titled "Britain donates "Javelin" and "NLAW" missiles to Kosovo like the ones that are burning Russian tanks in Ukraine", based on an article published a day earlier by the Serbian medium "Novosti.rs".

However, these claims by Serbian media have been denied by the British Embassy in Belgrade, which has called them fabrications.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses this article as "Disinformation".

Reasoning:

A “Disinformation” rating is given to media reporting that contains a “mix” of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful content. This rating will also address reports that have incorrect attributions or headlines that do not reflect the text in terms of information accuracy.
