The claim that Albanians are seeking help from NATO in the war against Serbs is untrue.

HIBRID

The Serbian media outlet "Informer" published an article today (November 8) claiming that Albanians are seeking help from NATO to attack Serbs.

The article published in "Informer" bears the title, "THE SITUATION IN KOSOVO AND METOHIA HAS DETERMINED DRAMATICALLY! Albanians are seeking the help of the NATO pact in the war against the Serbs!?"

The allegations are based on a statement by Kosovo analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu, given to the Serbian media outlet "Nova.rs", a statement misinterpreted by the Serbian media outlet.

Parts of the article published in "Informer":

The so-called Pristina authorities led by extremist Albin Kurti are seeking the help of the NATO pact to attack Serbs in the north of the province!?!

Nexhmedin Spahiu and other Pristina analysts say that after the Serbs' decision to withdraw from Pristina institutions, conflict is inevitable and that 'NATO will eventually have to solve everything'!?! According to them, the so-called 'Government of Kosovo' should as soon as possible appoint 'administrators' in the four northern municipalities who will replace the mayors, replace ten members of the Serbian List in the Assembly and send Albanian special forces to the Assembly. north of Kosovo instead of 578 Serbian policemen who are in uniform!? The commanders of the 'Kosovo Police' have at the same time announced that they 'have sufficient capacities to manage the situation' after the resignation of the Serbian policemen!

This article has made the front page of today's newspaper. (here)

The Serbian daily's claims that Albanians are seeking help from the NATO pact to attack Serbs in the north of the country appear to be based on a mere misinterpretation of analyst Spahiu's statement.

Spahiu stated to "Nova.rs":

"F"Unfortunately, I have the impression that an act of war is being prepared, that we are approaching a conflict. It seems that Serbia rejected the proposal of Germany and France, so everything has become even more complicated and that a conflict is on the horizon and then everything will be resolved by NATO. All this resonated with the authorities in Pristina and it is thought that this is a dangerous issue. What the police did is also interpreted as their preparation, as a potential force for conflict."system. (here)

Spahiu's statement regarding the possibility of a conflict where the solution will come from NATO represents his personal position and assessment regarding developments in the north, which are not related to the official position of the government.

Likewise, Spahiu does not point out any coordination between the Kosovo government and NATO to attack Serbs, as claimed by the Serbian media.

Moreover, the official position of Pristina regarding the latest developments and demands towards the NATO alliance have been made public. Prime Minister Kurti, after the last conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, through a post on his Twitter account, said that there was a commitment on his part to work with KFOR to guarantee security and law for all citizens of Kosovo, without discrimination.

"I agree that there is no alternative to dialogue. The current situation is a weak attempt by Belgrade to replace dialogue with destabilization. They will fail: I pledge to work with / @NATO_KFOR to guarantee security and the rule of law, without discrimination — throughout the Republic of Kosovo"(here)

Prime Minister Kurti has clearly stated that there is no tendency to incite any potential conflict coordinated by him and NATO.

Even through the official stance of the KFOR mission, their approach to maintaining peace and security in coordination with the parties becomes clear.

"We are monitoring the situation and are working closely with leaders in Belgrade and Pristina, as well as our international partners, to maintain a safe and secure environment for all people of Kosovo.". (here)

The KFOR mission has announced that it is in coordination with both Belgrade and Pristina to maintain peace and security for all residents of Kosovo.

Analyze:

The Serbian media outlet "Informer" has published an article claiming that Albanians are seeking help from NATO to attack Serbs.

The allegations are based on a statement by Kosovo analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu, who emphasizes that there is a possibility of a conflict, for which NATO would find a solution.

Spahiu's analysis does not mention what is claimed in the title of this Serbian media outlet. So, Spahiu did not say that "Pristina has requested help from NATO to attack the Serbs."

Furthermore, the official positions of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and NATO/KFOR are in coordination to maintain security for all citizens of Kosovo, without distinction.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses that these claims are unfounded and classified as "misinformation".
