It is falsely claimed that Hovenier criticized Haradinaj

Through a photo on Facebook, it was implied that the United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, has criticized the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj.

"Political leaders try to burn their rivals, but Ramush burns himself strongly, politics and Ramush Haradinaj are two diametrically opposed worlds," is the caption placed on a photograph of Hovenier. The publication was made by the account named Myzafer Muharremi on December 21..

The truth?

After verifying the facts by hibrid.info, it appears that Ambassador Hovenier did not state such a thing.

Hibrid.info, researching through search engines, found a similar post on the social network TikTok. On this social media, the publication was made by the account "endurance..12", that same day. The post in question bears three captions:

The American Ambassador responds to Ramush Haradinaj;

"I have good relations with Osman and Kurti, the contacts between the governments are strong and powerful."

Political leaders try to burn their rivals, but Ramush burns himself vigorously; politics and Ramush Haradinaj are two diametrically opposed worlds.

So the Facebook post from the Myzafer Muharremi account has only received a portion of the captions that have circulated on TikTok.

Photo comparison:

Furthermore, hibrid.info has checked the authenticity of the statement. From the verification of the facts it has resulted that such a title, as in the quote placed in the content published on TikTok, has circulated in 2022, following Ambassador Hovenier's statement on the "Context" show on "ATV". (Video of show)

The statement was not a response to Haradinaj, as claimed on TikTok.

Also, from a search on the online search engine "Google" with the keywords: "Jeffrey Hovenier Ramush Haradinaj"There are no articles with the claim like on TikTok and Facebook. The content found there is mainly related to Haradinaj's last meeting with Hovenier, on December 19th at Hovenier's farewell meeting as ambassador.

In the post on Facebook, the AAK chairman said that Hovenier was more than an ambassador and that he expressed his gratitude.

For the meeting there is NOTICE and the US Embassy in Pristina. There, Hovenier stated that the US is committed to continuing the connection between the two peoples.

Hovenier has been the US ambassador to Kosovo since January 2022. He has decided to retire (see here).

Analyze:

The claim on Facebook that the US Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, has criticized the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, is false.

Hibrid.info has found that this claim on Facebook was taken from a TikTok post, which had two false claims about Hovenier's statement. The TikTok post also includes a quote from Hovenier given two years ago about relations with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, as well as intergovernmental relations. Without being based on any facts, this statement from two years ago was claimed to have been made in response to Haradinaj.

Therefore, based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses the publication as "Fake News".

Reasoning:

The “Fake News” rating is given to informational content that is entirely fabricated or that contains factually incorrect claims or information. Content that is rated as fake news can be defined as having been created and distributed with the intent to misinform the public, i.e., to present a claim that is completely false as fact.
