The online medium "Periskopi.com" yesterday (March 23) published an article titled "Fear after the war in Ukraine: Kurti Government initiates procedures for the American Gas Pipeline".
This false claim was made by this media outlet based on a false announcement from the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo regarding the discussion points at the meeting of the Kosovo Government, held on Wednesday (March 23). Among the items on the agenda during this meeting was the discussion on the “Millennium Challenges Compact” project.
This portal based this claim on the discussion around this point, but misinterpreted it.
"Initiative for the negotiation of the Credit Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the United States of America, represented by the Millennium Challenge Corporation, for the "Millennium Challenge Compact" project. The agreement foresees the use of funds, in the amount of over 200 million dollars, for the energy sector in the Republic of Kosovo."

In fact, the announcement by the Prime Minister's Office does not mention the initiation of procedures for the Gas Pipeline, as claimed in the title of the relevant article (here).
The Ministry of Economy has also denied this report. A statement from this ministry states:
"Considering the circulation of some news in the local media about the government meeting where the future project with the MCC was discussed, we as the Minister of Economy, and at the same time the bearer of the Compact Development process by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), inform you that the envisaged project is not related to the development of the TAP gas pipeline."
The clarification of the Ministry of Economy after numerous reports that the Government has accepted the American gas pipeline, known as TAP, can be found here. here.
Analyze:
The portal "Periskopi.com" has made an untrue claim that the Government of Kosovo is initiating procedures for the American Gas Pipeline.
This media outlet made this claim based on an incorrect announcement from the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo regarding the discussion points at the meeting of the Kosovo Government, held on Wednesday (March 23). Among the items on the agenda during this meeting was the discussion on the “Millennium Challenges Compact” project.
But, in the announcement by the Prime Minister's Office, there is no mention anywhere of the initiation of procedures for the American Gas Pipeline, as claimed in the title of the relevant article.
The Ministry of Economy has also issued a clarification regarding this report, announcing that the upcoming project with MCC was discussed at the Government meeting and that the envisaged project is not related to the development of the TAP gas pipeline.
