This monitoring report for March 2026 presents an overview of misinformation based on data from the hibrid.info platform, where a total of 35 cases were identified, of which 94% were in the Albanian language. The most common forms include fake news, hoaxes, disinformation and unverified content, while geopolitical developments such as the US/Israel–Iran war and local political narratives dominate thematically. Misinformation is mainly focused on the areas of politics and security, while distribution occurs mainly through social media, with a strong dominance of Facebook.
The report also highlights the use of institutions and public figures in inaccurate narratives, with Albin Kurti being the most frequently mentioned figure, followed by a wide range of local and international actors. Isolated cases have also been identified in Serbian and English, mainly related to security and sports, which use untrue or outdated materials to construct false narratives.
At the same time, March has also seen the circulation of Serbian and Russian narratives aimed at rewriting the 1999 NATO intervention, presenting it as aggression and denying the documented crimes in Kosovo. These narratives are based on distortion of facts and propaganda, including unfounded allegations of collaboration with the KLA, organ trafficking, and misinterpretation of key events such as the Recak Massacre and Resolution 1244.
