During the period April 27–May 2, monitoring of media and social platforms shows a dominance of disinformation, distributed mainly through social networks and suspicious websites.
During this period, disinformation was mainly published on websites with a lack of transparency and questionable credibility, and was further disseminated on social networks, especially Facebook and TikTok. Thematically, it focused on political developments and public figures, including unfounded claims of US influence in Feride Rushiti’s presidential bid, manipulations with artificial intelligence-generated images regarding Lumir Abdixhiku and relations with Serbia, and recycling of old news with false headlines about alleged statements by Radoicic to former political leaders in Kosovo.
Clickbait content has been published both in online media and on social networks, using sensational headlines and misleading images to attract attention. Thematically, they have focused on political developments and judicial processes, such as the case of an article published by the newspaper “Demos” about an alleged meeting between Glauk Konjufca and Enver Hoxhaj, illustrated with an image generated by artificial intelligence that appeared to be real, as well as content on social networks related to the court hearings in The Hague against former KLA leaders, where the lack of context and the use of inaccurate images created wrong perceptions among the public.
The content, which includes manipulation of facts and errors, was published mainly on social networks, such as TikTok, but also in online media. It addressed political and social topics, including a video that incorrectly presented an alleged visit of Albin Kurti and Donika Gërvalla to Prekaz on a certain date, while it was actually footage from an earlier event, as well as inaccurate media reports on the number of student absences, where data for the whole of Kosovo was incorrectly presented as limited to the Municipality of Prishtina.
Manipulation of facts
A video on TikTok claims that Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Justice Minister Donika Gërvalla visited Rifat Jashari's family in Prekaz on April 24, 2026. However, The video depicts an earlier visit, made during the recording of the KLA Epic, and there is no official confirmation that such a visit took place on the claimed date. (here)

On April 25, the newspaper Demos published an article titled: “Exclusive: VIEW | Glauk Konjufca meets with PDK’s Hoxhaj in a cafe in Prishtina, a few hours after Kurti made a bid for President”. The illustrative photo of the article shows an image showing the Speaker of the Parliament, Glauk Konjufca, and former Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj drinking coffee. The claim that the photo on the front page represents a real image of the Konjufca-Hoxhaj meeting is incorrect. The image was generated with artificial intelligence and was used illustratively, but without sufficient emphasis on this fact in several media publications and re-publications. (here)
A piece of content has been published on social media accompanied by an image showing the four former KLA leaders (Thaci, Veseli, Selimi and Krasniqi), with the caption reporting that the court hearings in The Hague for Thaci and others have been scheduled for May 11 to 15. However, verification has confirmed that the content is misleading as the title does not specify which court process is in question, while the image mistakenly shows portraits of the entire group accused of war crimes. An image from the Serbian newspaper "Večernje Novosti" claimed that Lumir Abdixhiku had initiated extraordinary elections in Kosovo and was officially thanked by official Belgrade for this action. However, verification confirmed that the image was generated by Artificial Intelligence, a fact also confirmed by the warning label on TikTok. (here)
Through several Facebook posts published on April 28-29, it is alleged that Radoićić stated that Thaçi and Haradinaj promised him “towers and cities”. These posts share a link from “trayedit.com” with a changed and false title. Verification shows that the article is old (from 2019, published on “klankosova.tv”) and the same has been given a false title to present it as current. (here)

Content has been published claiming that four million students were absent from schools in the Municipality of Pristina in a semester. The content with this claim was published on Monday (April 27) by the media outlets “Koha.net” and “Klan Kosova”. The figure of 4 million absences refers to students from schools throughout Kosovo, not schools in Pristina. (here)
