Fake news about changes to restrictive measures is becoming more frequent

HIBRID

News that falsely claims about changes to the restrictive measures on the movement of citizens by responsible institutions in Kosovo, are being published and distributed in large numbers during the recent period by dubious portals.

Even today, the dubious portal "gjithckafresh.info" has published an article claiming that starting Monday, the curfew in Kosovo will be lifted, and that gastronomy will be allowed to operate until 22:00 PM.

This article contains a fabricated title and content, as after verification and research through search engines, hibrid.info has not found any such news published in credible media. Also, there is no announcement from either the Ministry of Health or the Institute of Public Health, as relevant institutions, that the current measures will be removed.

Text of the article published on "gjithckafresh.info":

The curfew and quarantine are lifted in Hanja and cafes are open until 10:00.

The curfew and quarantine are being lifted from Hanja, and cafes are open until... According to the latest data, there is now a proposal that the curfew be lifted because it is no longer effective after the third phase passes, and now that it is an idea that the rules should not be too strict.

But cafes and restaurants will work until 22:00 PM, these are the details assumed by the ministry, we will see again in the coming days what will happen, the daily writes.

Similar news, hibrid.info has managed to handle several times through the fact-checking process, which have turned out to be false. Below are two examples of such fake news that hibrid.info has handled.

Analyze:

Such news is published and re-published very often by dubious portals, which as a result misinforms a large number of readers, as they falsely announce the lifting of movement restrictions.

Likewise, the latest article published by "gjitçkafresh.info" regarding the removal of anti-covid measures contains a false title and content. After the fact-checking process carried out by hibrid.info, this news turns out to be "fake news" and "misinformation".

Reasoning:

Fake News – The “Fake News” rating is given to media reports that are entirely the product of a medium that itself contains factually incorrect claims or information. Content that is rated as fake news can be reliably determined to have been created and distributed with the intent to misinform the public, i.e., to present a claim that is completely false as fact.

Disinformation – A “Disinformation” rating is given to media reporting that contains a “mix” of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful content. This rating will also address reports that have incorrect attributions or headlines that do not reflect the text in terms of accuracy of information.
