Serbian language media "NIN.rs" and published on Thursday (August 14) an article claiming that the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Serbian police had arrested two former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) at the Horgosh border crossing, as suspects of war crimes in Kosovo.

What's wrong with this claim?

After verifying the facts, it turned out that the claim that the arrested are two former members of the KLA is not true.

Hibrid.info has found the announcement published on the official website of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, which states that on Thursday it arrested two people with the initials HE and BE at the border crossing between Serbia and Hungary, Horgoš, on suspicion of se in cooperation with members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) have committed war crimes against the civilian population (see here)

Announcement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, translated into Albanian:

Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Criminal Police Directorate, War Crimes Investigation Service, at the Horgosh Border Crossing at the entrance to Serbia, arrested HE (1976) and BE (1973) due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed a war crime against the civilian population.

It is alleged that on 9 August 1999, in Rahovec, in collaboration with several members of the so-called “KLA”, with the use of physical force, firearms and serious threats to life and limb, they kidnapped a civilian of Serbian nationality, JM, and took him to an unknown destination, since which time all trace of him has been lost. JM is still listed as a missing person.

The suspects, with the approval of the public prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes, have been ordered to be detained for up to 48 hours, after which they will be brought to the competent prosecutor's office with a criminal report.

So, based on this announcement, this ministry is not saying that these are former members of the KLA, but that they were detained under suspicion. that in collaboration with members of the KLA have committed war crimes against the civilian population.

Also, this statement does not mention the nationality of the detainees.

Analyze:
