Publication of articles falsely claiming Thaçi's release continues

HIBRID

Suspicious portals with content in Albanian are continuing to publish articles with fabricated titles, through which they falsely claim the release of former Kosovo President, Hashim Thaçi, from the Special Court in The Hague.

Finally, the dubious portal "banglarreporter.com" has published an article with a fabricated title - "BREAKING NEWS: Here's when Hashim Thaçi is expected to be released."

After review by hibrid.info, it was determined that the title of this article is completely fabricated and, as such, does not correspond to the content.

In fact, all that is presented in the content of this article is the request of Thaçi's defense attorney, David Hooper, who had asked the trial panel to release the former President of Kosovo.

Content of the article published by "banglarreporter.com":

Sources from the Special Court report that David Hooper, Thaçi's lawyer, has requested his release through a 28-page submission.

The submission has now been sent to the pre-trial judge, and it lists the arguments why Thaçi should be released according to the lawyer. It also lists the counter-arguments to the claims of the Specialized Prosecution Office presented in other submissions as well as in the redacted version of the order.

About four days ago, 28 pages of arguments from former President Thaçi's defense attorney, David Hooper, arrived at the address of the Preliminary Procedure judge, Nicolas Guillou, requesting the temporary release of his client.

Hooper, in his address, responded to all of the Special Prosecutor's claims raised in the arrest warrant against Thaçi, as well as in other submissions sent to the court.

The content of the article is composed of a part of an old article (December 10, 2020), published by the Kosovar medium "radiokosovaelire.com", regarding the request of Thaçi's defense lawyer.

Analyze:

The claim made in the title of the article on “banglarreporter.com”, announcing the release of former President Hashim Thaçi, is completely fabricated. The author of the article has taken part of another credible article, giving it a false title that does not correspond at all to the content.
