OUR VERDICT

MANIPULATION OF FACTS

The claim that Hamza rejected the institutions and demanded new elections is not accurate.

Facebook page “Newspaper Plisi"published content on August 3 with the claim "Bedri Hamza responds to Prime Minister Albin Kurti, rejects the creation of institutions, prefers new elections".

In this post, the page has also attached the official letter, through which the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Bedri Hamza, has rejected the invitation of the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, for a meeting.

What's wrong with this post?

After verifying the facts, it was determined that the caption of this post does not match the content of the official letter.

FACTS

Through the caption, "Gazeta Plisi" claims that PDK, through this letter, has rejected the creation of institutions, as it prefers new elections.

However, in the letter he provided, "Express newspaper", Hamza wrote to Kurti that PDK will continue to remain in opposition.

"Honorable Acting Prime Minister, Mr. Albin Kurti, I thank you for the invitation to the meeting. Referring to our meeting of July 10, 2026 and the public position of the PDK, I reconfirm that, in the current circumstances, our position is to continue to remain in opposition", he wrote in the letter.

Also, through this letter, he expresses that he expects parliamentary parties to reach an agreement on the creation of new institutions.

"We expect that you, in accordance with the responsibilities arising from the elections of June 7, 2026, together with the other parties represented in the Assembly of Kosovo, will reach an agreement on the creation of the country's new institutions. Respectfully, Bedri Hamza; Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo", he wrote.

So, this letter does not mention in any case "the refusal to create institutions" or "new elections as the preferred solution", as claimed in the content of the "Gazeta Plisi" website.

Analyze

The claim that Bedri Hamza has rejected the creation of new institutions and has stated that PDK prefers new elections is not accurate.

In his official response to Kurti's invitation, Hamza stated that PDK will continue to remain in opposition, while expressing his expectation that the parties represented in the Assembly will reach an agreement on the creation of new institutions.
