After verification of the facts carried out by hibrid.info, it was confirmed that this is a statement made by Thaçi's lawyer, Luka Mishetić, during the presentation of the closing statements of the defense, on February 11, 2026 (see here).
In his speech before the trial panel, Mishetic stated that Thaci should be considered innocent based on the principle of the presumption of innocence.
"Let me start by saying that Hashim Thaçi is innocent," Misetic had stated, later explaining that this is related to the principle that the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court.
Therefore, the statement does not constitute a decision by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers on Hashim Thaçi's innocence. It is part of the defense's argument during closing statements and was made several months before the publication of the verified content.
On September 16, the verdict in the case against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selim and Jakup Krasniqi is expected to be announced at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague (see here).
