OUR VERDICT

FAKE NEWS

Trump has not made such a statement.

A TikTok post claims that the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has called on NATO to accept Kosovo as a member.

"Exclusive: US President Donald Trump calls on NATO to accept Kosovo as a member", is the caption on a video in which Trump is seen speaking to a crowd.

The publication was made by the account "dardaniatimes" in English, on July 2, 2026.

What's wrong with the content?

Trump has not made such a statement. Such a statement was not made in the speech on which the claim is based, nor can it be found online that it has ever been made.

The facts:

On July 1, 2026, Trump delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota. In the hour-long speech, Trump did not mention Kosovo anywhere. This is confirmed if you listen to the entire speech (see here) or if the entire transcript of the speech is read (see here).

Meanwhile, in the clip on TikTok, Trump is heard talking about opening the Roosevelt Library in the town of Medora (minutes two to four) in the full speech.

Also, a Google search with the words "Trump calls for Kosovo to join NATO"does not lead to any credible articles or other publications to confirm this claim."

A month earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that NATO expansion to include Kosovo is not currently at the top of the allies' agenda, but added that this does not mean that it could not happen in the future (see here).

Kosovo authorities have been seeking NATO membership for years (see here).

NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is an international political and military alliance consisting of 32 member states from Europe and North America. Its main purpose is to guarantee the freedom and security of its member states through political and military means. In Kosovo, since the end of the war with Serbia, it operates through the mission of KFORfor security purposes.

Analyze:

The claim on TikTok that Donald Trump has called on NATO to accept Kosovo as a member is false.

In his July 1, 2026 speech in North Dakota, he did not mention Kosovo at all. In fact, no credible source confirms that Trump made such a statement.
