A member of parliament's statement is published as the title of the article, without indicating where the information comes from.

HIBRID

An article titled, has been published. "Scandal in Dubrava: Prisoners are waiting up to 10 days to be cleaned."

WHAT'S NOT RIGHT WITH THIS ARTICLE?

The news was published yesterday (May 7), on the information portal "kosova-sot.info", but hibrid.info has found that the published information comes from a statement by the member of the Kosovo Assembly, Driton Selmanaj, which is not specified in the title of this article.

Link to the article published by the information portal "kosova-sot.info":

The portal in question also shared this article on its Facebook page (see here).

The source of the alleged information becomes clear only in the heading of the article, when it states: “LDK MP Driton Selmanaj stressed today that he has heard that in Dubrava Prison, prisoners are having to wait up to 10 days to be cleaned.

However, what is noticeable from Selmanaj's own statement is that the information he provided is not fact-checked and confirmed, as he says that he "heard". (see here and here).

WHAT DOES THE KCS SAY ABOUT THIS ALLEGATION?

Meanwhile, in the same article, hibrid.info has also understood the position of the Kosovo Correctional Service (KKS), the institution that manages prisons in Kosovo. Consequently, this institution has rejected the claim raised by MP Selmanaj.

The SLA's statement in the article:

"Regarding your questions, we inform you that the allegations in question are unfounded. In the Dubrava Correctional Center, as in all correctional institutions, the cleaning of prisoners is carried out and continues to be carried out in accordance with daily routines."

Analyze:

The claim that prisoners in Dubrava prison are waiting up to 10 days to be cleaned is not based on facts, but on statements.

This claim comes from a statement by MP Driton Selmanaj, but this is not specified in the title of the published article. Furthermore, this statement has been denied by the KCS itself.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses this content as "Clickbait" and "Disinformation".

Reasoning:

“Clickbait” is considered to be informational content whose title is general and does not disclose the location of the event, context and relevance. Such texts and articles aim to attract the attention of the audience with sensational headlines with misleading consequences, which do not accurately clarify the content of the article. “Clickbait” headlines are mainly made to attract readability in the case of media publications and/or to earn from clicks in the case of commercial publications.

"Disinformation" is defined as information content that contains a "mix" of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful attributes, and that is created and/or distributed with the deliberate intention of causing harm. The motive behind the producers/distributors of disinformation content lies in achieving a political, financial, psychological or social goal.
