Kosovo has not been supplied with Turkish military equipment "Boran 105mm"

Through a video posted on Facebook, it is claimed that the Kosovo Army has been supplied with military equipment from Turkey, the "Boran 105".

"The Kosovo Army is equipped with "Boran 105mm" cannons, Turkish production with a striking power of up to 10 km," is the caption that the "With Albin Kurti" page used in the video published on August 20.

The truth?

After fact-checking by hibrid.info through online search engines, no information was found published in credible media that Kosovo has been supplied with such military equipment (see here)

Hibrid.info has also searched the website of the Ministry of Defense of Kosovo for the term "Boran". Nothing was found there either that indicates that there are supplies of such equipment (see here).

Hibrid.info has covered similar claims about such supplies in the past. In September last year, it was claimed that Kosovo would be supplied with such equipment from Turkey in October (2023) (see article). And in the material published by the “Me Albin Kurti” Facebook page, among other things, the photograph that was used in the previous case is used. The photograph was taken during a visit that officials of the Ministry of Defense of Kosovo and the KSF had made in September last year to the “Teknofest” technology and aerospace festival in Izmir, Turkey (see here).

The video published by the "Me Albin Kurti" page on Facebook has, by the time of writing, collected more than 140 thousand views, has around 2700 likes, more than 270 comments and around 240 shares.

Analyze:

The Facebook page named "Me Albin Kurtin" has falsely claimed that the Kosovo Army has been equipped with Turkish military equipment "Boran 105mm".

From the verification in online search engines, no information published in credible media about such a claim has been found. There has been no official announcement from the Ministry of Defense either. A similar claim was published last year.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses this content published on Facebook by the page "Lajme Nga Bota" as "Fake News".

Reasoning:

The “Fake News” rating is given to informational content that is entirely fabricated or that contains factually incorrect claims or information. Content that is rated as fake news can be defined as having been created and distributed with the intent to misinform the public, i.e., to present a claim that is completely false as fact.
