Arrest warrant for Radoicic allegedly presented as politically motivated action

HIBRID

Serbian institutional and political officials from Kosovo and Serbia claim to present the arrest warrant for the deputy leader of the Serbian List, Milan Radoićić, as an action with a political background.

Media in Kosovo reported today that, yesterday, Kosovo Police at the Brnjak border crossing failed to arrest Milan Radoicic, based on an arrest warrant issued by the Court.

Regarding this, the director of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, through a post on Twitter, claimed that this order for the arrest of Radoicic is related to, as he claims, efforts to weaken Serbia's influence, on the eve of the April 3 elections.

A similar claim, unfounded by facts, has also been made by representatives of the Serb List. In a response, they say that this case is related to the activities of Kosovo institutions to weaken the Serb List.

However, their claims turn out to be baseless, as they are not based on any facts.

Petkovic's reaction, translated into Albanian:

"The attempt by the authorities in Pristina to arrest the deputy leader of the Serbian List, Milan Radoićić, without any evidence or valid legal basis is a new blow to Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and an attempt to weaken Serbia's power in the province, on the eve of the April 3 elections!"

Parts of the Serbian List's reaction in Albanian:

"We are aware that in recent weeks the activity of Kosovo institutions has intensified to remove the Serbian List from the political scene as a bastion of Serbian defense, but we have understood that such messages and actions will not scare or discourage us in the further fight for our people."

You can find the link to the Serbian List's response on their official Facebook profile. here.

Several Serbian media outlets have also reported on the reaction of the Serbian List and Petkovic. (examples) here, here and here)

So far, there has been no official confirmation regarding the attempted arrest of Radojčić at the Brnjak border crossing. All that has been made public so far is the 24-hour report from the Kosovo Police, which reports the escape of a Serbian male during an attempted arrest by police.

OBSTRUCTION OF THE OFFICIAL PERSON IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THE DUTY

BKK Brnjak 03.02.2022 – 15:40. A male/Serbian suspect (at the entrance to Kosovo), while police officers were verifying him, the same person drove back in the direction of Serbia. Based on the verification carried out, the suspect is wanted on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the court.

Details about the event are only given in the reporting of kallxo.com. Citing sources, the article of this medium states that the person who escaped yesterday from the border crossing in Brnjak is Milan Radoićić, who is wanted in the case of the murder of Oliver Ivanović. (see here)

Analyze:

The claims made by the Serbian List and the director of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, that the arrest warrant for Radoicic is related to a political background, are unfounded.

As a result, hibrid.info evaluates these reactions as "Conspiracy Theories".

Reasoning:

"Conspiracy theories" are media reports that disseminate a false or unverifiable description of a phenomenon, event, or person, presenting it as part of or the result of a secret plan ("conspiracy"). A characteristic of these reports is that they present a series of claims, presented as facts, between which cause-effect relationships are established, without providing any credible evidence.
