Gëzim Sveçla, a relative of Xhelal Sveçla, is not employed at MINT

HIBRID

The media in Kosovo have recently reported on several employments with family preferences in the ministries of the Government of Kosovo. In the articles published in some of the media, it is stated that in the "Kurti 2" Government, the employment of relatives of senior institutional officials is continuing.

Among those targeted is rumored to be Gëzim Sveçla, a relative of Kosovo's Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, who is said to be employed at the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MINT).

This claim, made in one of the news reports on "T7" television, turns out to be untrue. This claim has also been denied by the cabinet of the Minister of MINT, Rozeta Hajdari.

This "T7" report states that among other people employed with family preferences is Gëzim Sveçla, a claim which, as stated in the report, is based on "online media" reports.

Part of the report in Q7:

"The workers at the Ministry of Trade have been joined by a new colleague. For several days now, Gëzim Sfeçla has also been here. Rozeta Hajdari, as online media report, has apparently paid tribute to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, since Gëzim is a relative of the Kurti government minister."

On his Facebook profile, Gëzim Sveçla, in a resounding manner, attempted to deny this claim made by T7.

MINT has announced that this claim is untrue. In an emailed response to Hibrid.info from Minister Hajdari's office, they said:

"We confirm that the person Gezim Sveçla, as you mentioned, is not employed at the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade."

T7 bases the claim that Gëzim Sveçla was employed at MINT by referring to "some reports in online media", without clarifying which ones exactly they are talking about. Hibrid.info has researched through online search engines, looking to see if the same claim has been published in any other media, but it turned out that all that was seen were some articles about the employment of several other people, family members of senior officials from the Vetëvendosje Movement, but not Gëzim Sveçla.

Analyze:

Based on the fact-checking and verification, it turns out that the claim made in the T7 television report that Gëzim Sveçla was employed by MINT is untrue. As a result, hibrid.info assesses this claim as "fake news".

Rating:

The "Fake News" rating is given to media reports that are entirely the product of a medium that itself contains factually incorrect claims or information.

Content that is considered fake news can be reliably determined to have been created and distributed with the intent to misinform the public, i.e., to present a claim that is completely false as fact.
