An article titled "" has been published.Abdixhiku complains to the Italian ambassador: Country politically blocked – international mediation required".

content was published today (May 20) by the medium "kosovanews.net".

What's wrong with this content?

Hibrid.info has found that the information claimed in the headline does not match what the content of the news contains and that the claim is not confirmed by other official announcements.

The article reports on a meeting between Lumir Abdixhiku, the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), and Maurizio Antonini, the new Italian ambassador to Pristina.

The title claims that Abdixhiku complained to the Italian ambassador. After this information, the title is followed by a punctuation mark “:” followed by the sentence “Politically blocked country – international mediation required".

The part after the punctuation mark “:” in such titles usually means a statement by the person mentioned, in this case – Abdixhiku, who is presented as the subject in the title. (here)

Hibrid.info has checked the content and found that unlike the title, the text does not mention that Abdixhiku used the wording "international mediation is required".

The article used parts of Abdixhiku's statement, which not only do not prove that he expressed such a request, but also, in the interpretation of the author of this text, does it not suggest that the LDK leader has requested international mediation for the situation in the country.

This is confirmed by Abdixhiku's Facebook post, which served as a source for the reported information and was included in the text (see here).

Hibrid.info has also found an announcement on the LDK website about this meeting (see hereThe announcement provided more information about the meeting, indicating that Abdixhiku presented to the Italian ambassador a proposal for a solution, which implies an inclusive transitional government to unblock the situation regarding the formation of institutions after the parliamentary elections.

However, this announcement does not explicitly state that Abdixhiku has requested international mediation.

Likewise, the Italian Embassy's post on its official Facebook page, informing about the meeting with Abdixhiku, does not confirm that during this meeting any request for international mediation regarding the recent political situation in the country was discussed (see here).

Analyze

The title of the content covered claims that LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, in a meeting with Italian Ambassador Maurizio Antonini, requested international mediation to unblock the political situation in the country.

But the content of the same article and the official announcements of the parties participating in the meeting do not confirm it.

Therefore, based on its working methodology, hibrid.info assesses the content as "Clickbait" and "Disinformation".

rationale

“Clickbait” is considered to be informational content whose title is general and does not disclose the location of the event, context and relevance. Such texts and articles aim to attract the attention of the audience with sensational headlines with misleading consequences, which do not accurately clarify the content of the article. “Clickbait” headlines are mainly made to attract readability in the case of media publications and/or to earn from clicks in the case of commercial publications.

"Disinformation" is defined as information content that contains a "mix" of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful attributes, and that is created and/or distributed with the deliberate intention of causing harm. The motive behind the producers/distributors of disinformation content lies in achieving a political, financial, psychological or social goal.
