An article claims that the Swiss newspaper "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" wrote an article about the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, stating that "A man like this is only born every 100 years."

The article with this claim was published by the Albanian-language information portal "Ina-online.net" dated January 25th.

The same article was later distributed by another Albanian-language portal "lecanton27.ch", which calls itself the first Albanian newspaper in Switzerland.

The truth?

After research conducted by hibrid.info, it was proven that this claim is not correct.

The Swiss medium "Neue Zürcher Zeitung"dedicated an article to Kurti's meeting with the diaspora in Zurich, Switzerland (January 23).

However, the content of this article explains that in this meeting with the diaspora, an elderly man spoke of Kurti with the assessment that "A man like this is only born every 100 years."

So, a citizen's opinion about the Prime Minister of Kosovo is presented by the aforementioned Albanian-language portals as the Swiss newspaper's assessment of Kurti.

Excerpt from the article published in the Swiss online media "Neue Zürcher Zeitung", translated into Albanian:

Kosovo Prime Minister welcomed by his supporters in Zurich: "A man like this is only born every 100 years."

An old man turns and says with teary eyes: “A man like this is only born every 100 years.” Then he looks ahead again and calls out in a hoarse voice: “Albin Baba!”

Analyze:

Several Albanian-language portals claimed that a Swiss newspaper had given Kurti the assessment that "A man like this is only born every 100 years."

After verifying the facts, it was proven that this claim is false.

In the article by the Swiss media outlet "Neue Zürcher Zeitung", it is explained that this assessment of Kurti was given by a citizen during the meeting with the diaspora that the Kosovo Prime Minister held in Zurich, Switzerland on January 23.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info considers the claim made by several Albanian-language portals as "misinformation".

Reasoning:

"Disinformation" is defined as information content that contains a "mix" of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful attributes, and that is created and/or distributed with the deliberate intention of causing harm. The motive behind the producers/distributors of disinformation content lies in achieving a political, financial, psychological or social goal.
