Through a TikTok post, it was claimed that the US Embassy in Kosovo has praised the work of Albin Kurti's government in the north.
"Safe visits and free travel for the first time in 25 years," is a quote placed on the image that shows the United States Embassy building in Kosovo and a photograph of the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
The publication was made by the account "dardanianape" on January 7th and by the time of writing it had received more than 56 thousand views and more than 1,100 likes.
The truth?
The claim is false. The American Embassy has not made such a statement. In fact, this false claim has been addressed earlier (May, 2025) by hybrid.info.
Even then, the publication was made on social media. The claim was published on the day when the chargé d'affaires at the US Embassy in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, was in northern Kosovo and met with political representatives and the Kosovo Police.
After investigation, it turned out that the US Embassy had not made such a statement. The official Facebook page of this embassy reiterated the US position that stability and security are essential, and that it is the responsibility of the Government of Kosovo to ensure that all citizens can live peacefully. However, the alleged quote was not part of the post.
