An article in Serbian has been published with the title translated into Albanian "KFOR is preparing for unrest, while Albanians are mistreating Serbs: They are exercising the protection of Bondsteel.".
Articles with these titles were published in Serbian-language media "vaseljenska.net”And“in4s.net".
What is the truth?
The claim in the title is based on two KFOR announcements, which indicate military exercises on the territory of Kosovo. These preparations are related to new unrest in Kosovo, caused by actions of Albanians against Serbs.
However, KFOR does not link these activities to expected unrest or any allegations of mistreatment of Serbs by Albanians.
The same claim with the inscription "KFOR is preparing for unrest, while Albanians are preparing for more than unrest.” has also been published on the Telegram platform in the Serbian language channel “Српски Инат – Коридор СБ☧” (see here).
The texts report that KFOR has conducted two military exercises in Kosovo.
One at Camp Bondsteel, where a base defense and mass casualty management exercise was conducted, simulating threats and emergency situations.
Another near Decani, where Bulgarian KFOR soldiers conducted helicopter exercises, focused on personnel transport, troop evacuation, and emergency response.
The article reports that according to KFOR, the purpose of these exercises was to increase operational readiness, coordination and ability to respond to emergency situations, as well as contribute to a secure environment in Kosovo.
Hibrid.info checked the KFOR Facebook page and found these two announcements (see here and here).
None of the announcements mention unrest in Kosovo, mistreatment of Serbs by Albanians, or any such threat that would serve as a reason for conducting these exercises.
KFOR emphasizes that the activities are part of its mandate to contribute to a safe environment and freedom of movement for all people living in Kosovo.
In both articles it was found that the reporting was based on material published on “RT Balkan” (see here). Even the title of the original article claims that Albanians are mistreating Serbs, but, unlike the texts discussed, it points out that KFOR is not doing anything about this alleged situation.
In one notification On 12 June 2026, NATO stated that the security situation in Kosovo had continued to improve and that, for this reason, it would optimize the KFOR presence and gradually adjust the force over the coming year. According to NATO, the security situation in Kosovo remained generally stable, while changes to the KFOR presence would be made gradually and in accordance with conditions on the ground. The Alliance also emphasized that these changes could be reversed if necessary.
