False claim of building collapse, content shows another event

FATBARDH DEMA

OUR VERDICT

disinformation

The title of the post is false. After clicking on the article, another event appears, unrelated to the claim in the title.

Some Facebook pages "GazetaPress 24","Albania”And“News" published posts on April 13 with the title "Tragic event in the country, building collapses, there are reported casualties", to which they have also attached the link to the article (here, here and here).

What's wrong with this claim?

After fact-checking, it was determined that the title of the post is false. After clicking on the article link, another event appears, unrelated to the claim in the title.

In articles published by these pages, the content appears "A tragic event was recorded this morning on "Remzi Hoxha" street in Ferizaj, where a worker lost his life during work on a building under construction."

So, the content does not match the title.

Hibrid.info has researched online regarding the event presented in the articles of these publishers, and it has been confirmed that the event is true.

The portal "Klankosova.tv" reported on the event in Ferizaj, where a worker lost his life during work on a building under construction (see here).

As for the claim in the headlines of the aforementioned publishers' articles that the building was reported to have collapsed, hibrid.info confirmed that such an event was not reported to have occurred (see here).

Analyze

Posts published by several Facebook pages feature a false headline, which does not match the actual content of the article.

The headline claims a building collapse with casualties, but this event did not happen and was not reported by reliable sources. However, after clicking on the link, the article talks about another real event, the death of a worker during construction work on a building in Ferizaj.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses this article as "Disinformation".

rationale

"Disinformation" is defined as information content that contains a "mix" of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful attributes, and that is created and/or distributed with the deliberate intention of causing harm. The motive behind the producers/distributors of disinformation content lies in achieving a political, financial, psychological or social goal.
