A video posted on a Facebook page with Albanian content claims that a highway in Kosovo has a traffic sign that allows driving without a speed limit.

The video was published on Facebook on May 19 by the page called "Gazetavip.com".

What is the truth about this claim?

Hibrid.info, after analyzing this video material, has noticed that a traffic sign appears in the footage, indicating the end of all roadblocks.

However, according to the Road Traffic Law in Kosovo, the maximum speed allowed outside urban areas on the highway is one hundred and thirty (130) km/h.

What did we find?

After researching this traffic sign that appears in the video, hibrid.info has found the published document "Traffic Signs and Road Signaling", which explains that it indicates the point where all road stops end. (see here p. 153)

Article 56 of the Law on Road Traffic Regulations published by the Ministry of Infrastructure explains that in Kosovo the maximum speed allowed outside urban areas, on highways, is 130km/h. (see here p. 32)

The handling of this content by hibrid.info was done because the video published by the website "Gazetavip.com" until the writing of this article, has managed to collect nearly 600 thousand views, and over 600 comments, misleading many citizens.

Analyze:

The Facebook page "Gazetavip.com" has claimed that on a highway in Kosovo there is a traffic sign that allows driving without a speed limit.

Hibrid.info has confirmed that the sign that appears in the video footage shows the place where all the stops on that road end, but according to the Law on Road Traffic Regulations in Kosovo, the maximum speed allowed on Kosovo's roads is 130km/h.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses this claim as "Disinformation".

Reasoning:

"Disinformation" is defined as information content that contains a "mix" of inaccurate sources or even half-truthful attributes, and that is created and/or distributed with the deliberate intention of causing harm. The motive behind the producers/distributors of disinformation content lies in achieving a political, financial, psychological or social goal.
