Ismail Kadare's false statement about Albin Kurti is published

HIBRID

A TikTok account named "lagraqsaqi" has published a video (February 10) with a caption claiming to be a statement made by Albanian writer Ismail Kadare.

The statement states that Ismail Kadare expressed "Being against Albin Kurti today is like being against Adem Jashari in 1998!".

After research and verification of the facts by hibrid.info, no facts were found that prove that such a statement was made by the Albanian writer.

By researching the alleged statement through the Google search engine, hibrid.info found that apart from several Facebook pages, the statement was not found by any media or credible sources (see here).

Likewise, in the search for a comment by Ismail Kadare on the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, no direct assessment or statement was found (see here).

The only source that hibrid.info has found is an article that shows Kadare's comments in his book, "Ra ky mort eu pamë" - Ditar për Kosoven, where the writer spoke about the opponents of the Rambouillet Conference but without mentioning the name of Prime Minister Kurti, who at the time opposed the agreement that emerged from this conference (see here).

It is not the first time that hibrid.info has dealt with alleged statements by the writer Ismail Kadare (see here).

Analyze:

The claim that the Albanian writer Ismail Kadare has stated that "Being against Albin Kurti today is like being against Adem Jashari in 1998!", is not sustainable.

Hibrid.info has not been able to find that the writer has given such an assessment or any other comment on Prime Minister Albin Kurti. The only opinion found by the writer on Albin Kurti is the one expressed in an indirect form, in one of his books, when Kadare wrote about the opponents of the Rambouillet Agreement.

Based on its work methodology, hibrid.info assesses the content as "Fake News".

Reasoning:

The "Fake News" rating is given to media reports that are entirely the product of a medium that itself contains factually incorrect claims or information.

Content that is considered fake news can be reliably determined to have been created and distributed with the intent to misinform the public, i.e., to present a claim that is completely false as fact.
